Todays Spurs Victory Is Why......
I definately beleive that they will ultimately be crowned the NBA Champions for 2005.Although I doubt it,this series between the Spurs and Suns may still go seven games, but the Spurs will win it in either situation. The Suns problem is that they still play no defense and their whole agenda is to out run and out gun the other team and thats how they beat the Mavs plus the fact that the Mavs play even less defense than the Suns. That out run and gun tactic will not work against the Spurs because they actually play defense, good defense.Aside from their defense, the Spurs just have to many offensive supporting cast weapons for the Suns to deal with, especially if you can't play defense. The Suns other ovious problem is that they possess no inside game to match that of the Spurs because the majority of Amare's points are short jumpers, breakaway or offensive rebound dunks, but nothing from the low post setup variety, which is what the Spurs can do with Duncan. This series will be a mere carry over from the regular season where the Spurs won 2 of 3 games and the one they lost,Duncan didn't even play. Thus,I already pretty much know that the Spurs will be one half of the NBA Championship Series combatants and so I'll just kick back and see if the Pistons will do to the Heat, what the Spurs will do to the Suns.

well 27 out 30 who won game 1 have won the series so I like the Spurs chances there. But remember the Suns didn't have Joe Johnson. Sure they lost 2 out of 3 but SA did come from 17 down or something like that in the 4th quarter one game. Defense wins championships and i felt SA was the only team in the west who could stop the Suns and if they didn't the the Pistons would in the Finals. It will be an exciting series.. Suns game 2, Spurs game 3 and 4. Suns game 5. Spurs game 6
Detriot I think will take it in 6 against Miami. they have made miami look average in 3 games this season and they are playing that championship style basketball again when it matters the most. |

Well posted Focal, you just amazed the hell out of me because I didn't think you had it in you dude. You made some very good points, most od which I agree with as it relates to the Spurs and Suns series,as I think it will only go six games. As for the Heat and Pistons series,I'm not sure that the Heat can win more than one game even though the fifth game would be in Miami and if Miami doesn't win Wednesdays game, the series won't even get to a fifth game.At any rate,I'm looking forward to a Spurs and Pistons Championship Final and it will be well worth watching, two good offensive teams and even better defensively both from an individual and team standpoint.

miami wins game 2 so that changes the series a little bit. Just when u think everything is going good and one team looks pathetic they pull out a win and it throws everyone off. But I believe Charles when he said the best team always wins a 7 game series. Sure one team might win 2 road games like SA did but Phoenix could go into SA and do the same. Then what will people be saying about the series?

If the Suns had any clue about how to play defense, then I might agree with you Focal on the possibilty of them winning two games in SA.Unless the Spurs just totally self destruct from an offensive standpoint, this series is all but over and it's just a matter of time before the Suns are on vacation and the Spurs will be waiting on the Pistons to wrap up their series with the Heat.

that Miami/detroit series will go 7, no doubt in my mind. Both teams play hard and have all year. Correct me if I am mistaken but didn't Miami loose the season series to the Pistons, one of their only win/loss record against any team from the east.
In the end, I see the series going to the Pistons, due to they have more solid players that have playoff experience, just my opinion |

The Pistons & Heat series will go seven games only if the Heat are able too win one of the upcoming two games in Detroit. If the Heat fail to do this, then this series will end in six games, because I don't think that the Heat can win the sixth game in which the Pistons would be in a series clinching position at home.
