us army - JackAss Of The Week May 22nd, 2005 - May 30th, 2005

Even though I am an 8 year army veteran, I have seen the army do crappy things during this time. This latest incident with Pat Tillman was just horrindus and should be remembered as a national screw up. I am asahmed at the Army for what they did when they handled the death of Pat Tillman.

His parents both ripped the current administration and the generals invloved in covering up the way that Tillman was KIA.

Dont know what to think about this one, as I do not know the workings of the army...

But it could be one of two things in my mind:

1. An honest mistake
2. A coverup to promote enlistment

Im distraut as to which to take grounds to, as recently a local reporter in some town decided how far a recruitment office would go to fufill their quotas.

Being a veteran myself I do have to say this would not be below the Army. The military is extremely image-conscious. To have such a high profile GI killed by friendly fire is a major blow to the Army's image. To see them try to cover it up is not at all surprising.

IMO, a high profile GI should not be facing fire....friendly or otherwise. If captured, it makes them a tool of trade, so to speak.

This is exactly why W never faced combat (different, but similar circumstances, I might add)

I think they should hang the no seeing bastards that shot him!!!

I've been to combat and I know what friendly fire is, but damn,,, a ranger should be trained and smarter then the average soldier!!!
Maybe what they say about infantry soldiers is true, anybody can be one...a dumb one!!!

Good point...the soldiers should be held accountable in some form or fashion. Maybe not hanging (!?) but still....

will never happen. Friendly Fire has been apart of every major american campaign, shit for that matter, every country encounters it. Only sometimes do the individuals come to face the jury, but it is rare
