Linecum Contract

I find this contract fascinating. By now I assume you all have seen the details. The fact that it is only for two years surprises me. I would have thought the Giants would want a longer term deal. Perhaps they are thinking that his unorthodox motion and delivery will lead to a short career or maybe Linecum is willing to take a chance that he will stay healthy enough long enough for a bigger better contract in two years. How much will the Yankees pay this kid when the time comes?

If he maintains for the next two years it may be a record contract.

justifiably so....i think 12 million roughly is a steal for him at this point

Both sides seem to be hedging their bets. Most "experts" seem to think that Linecum is a shoulder blowout waiting to happen.

possibly...but teams are willing to give average pitchers 9 million a season...this kid is already a 2 time cy young winner and possibly the nastiest pitcher in the game..if he stays healthy..in 2 years hits free agency, i wouldn't be shocked if its 35 to 40 million a season
