Is Your Team Going To Make A Move?
Welcome to this week’s Weekly Rant!!!
As the annual tradition of baseball’s version of musical chairs approaches, it is interesting to see what teams will be active and what teams will be content to run with their current cast. Let’s take a look at the National League teams, and see what... Full Article |

Avery, i gotta disagree alittle bit on my Phillies. I don't really see them making too much of a push for a starting pitcher, unless it is to replace Padilla. They have a very solid rotation (at this point)...
1. Brett Myers - 4-3, 2.06 ERA (just been nasty so far) 2. John Lieber - 6-4, 4.41 ERA 3. Randy Wolf - 5-4, 4.57 ERA (4-0 with a 2.96 ERA in his last 5 starts) 4. Cory Lidle - 5-3, 3.88 ERA 5. Vicente Padilla - 1-5, 7.03 ERA (see why he needs to be replaced?) I think they will look more towards the bullpen than anything. The bullpen has blown far too many games, and with Tim Worrell out (with "personal reasons") there are talks of him being traded. They will need to fill the leaks in the pen. Becides, solid starting pitching has been very hard to come by as of late. I have not heard of too many teams ready to dump solid starters. |

Btown,
Good analysis on the starting pitching. I think you'll see as teams continue to fade out of contention, that more pitchers will become available. I meant to put in Myers instead of Padilla, so thanks for the catch! I think the Phils need another #1 or #2 type starter. I think that Myers, Lieber and Lidle are all overacheving, and i don't expect them to keep their pace. I think Wolf is right about where he should be...he might actually be able to pitch a bit better, and of course Padilla should be the ace of that staff. The bullpen could use some help as well, youre right on w/that one. |
