Mensa, dude it's to early to count us out of the NCAA tournament after only 5-6 games and I don't think that anyone predicted the the Huskers basketball team would go undefeated this season.Of even greater importance than a loss to UAB,is how well they play in the Big XII during conference play. I think that the Huskers have a good chance of getting into the tournament unless the committee overlook us for one of those overrated Big 10 teams.

I know. And I guess time will tell whether Nebraska has what it takes to make the NCAA tournament. This post was all about pissing CUjays off.

I understand and know offense taken Bro and you're still OK with me dude as we go a long ways back on this site through the ups and downs. It may not be to the same extent, but I guess you and CUJays have replaced myself and Focal as the #1 combatants on the Rant at this time.

just like the good old days when mensa could dispute everything i said and say things just to get me, thats really nice. by the way, UAB is a very athletic team and we got outcoached and outplayed in the 2nd half. tough loss at home, but dont forget, its nebraska basketball. were talking about a state where people usually dont know what basketball is until after the super bowl. 5-1 is not a bad record with a win over marquette and a few cupcakes plus creighton and FSU on the non conference schedule still. but the determining factor as to this team being NIT or better is conference play. this is the year they need to do it, KU is down, Mizzou looks pretty weak, and Neb can run with CU. OU and texas will beat us, tech will beat us, we just have to win the games we can win and finish in the top 6 of the big 12. it will be a challenge, we just cant lose the bad ones like kansas state.

ehhh Nebraska hasn't won a game in the tourney yet.. haha but I'm hoping that they can make it this year. One thing that is hurting us our best player last year is playing the worst he ever has. He put on 20 lbs over the offseason and hasn't played worth a shit. (Joe McCray) i think he was on the all freshman team last year. The good thing is we have players freshman and a juco that are contributing a lot. They SHOULD finish the non-conference schedule at 11-2 at worst being that Creighton lost Nate Funk for the season to shoulder surgery. I'm planning on a loss to Florida State because they are playing extremely strong. But then the real test starts with a game VS Oklahoma it's a good thing its at home but we'll see what we're really made of then.
How are your hawkeyes playing Mensa? J/w haven't really looked into them except when they played in the early season tournament. |

I'm not a Hawkeye fan. My college sports interests are as follows:
1. Wisconsin (where I currently am a student). 2. Penn State (I was more or less born into a Penn State family, so I was taught early in life to love the blue and white). 3. Miami of Ohio (went to school there for 2 years before transferring, but still follow them--obviously I don't get to see their teams play much since they're in a mid-major conference, but I keep up with how their teams are doing). In that order. I will say this though. I like the Hawkeyes, just wouldn't call myself a fan of them. And I certainly don't root for them when they play against Wisconsin or Penn State. But I did watch Iowa a couple times on tv, and the Hawkeyes do look very good this year. Their only loss is to #2 Texas, and Iowa played right with them until the last 10 minutes. As for Wisconsin basketball, they are a young team this year and probably won't go anywhere near as far as they did during their improbable run last year. Only loss is to Wake Forest, but the Badgers haven't played anyone else who could have had a chance to beat them. I'll leave out the details on the other two, because they never amount to much. I guess they both made the Sweet 16 once in recent years (Miami-Ohio with Wally Szczerbiak or however you spell it and Penn State the year they upset UNC), but I don't think we have to watch out for either of them this year. |

UT-Chattanooga, whose only other win coming into the game tonight was against Asbury College of the National Christian College Athletic Association, didn't struggle with Creighton. I don't think Nebraska will either.

The thing about Iowa is, it was only recently that either their football team or their basketball team went anywhere. The football team was a perennial loser (kinda like Indiana and Illinois are now) and I don't think the basketball team was much to write home about either. But let me again clarify, I'm not an Iowa fan.
I would say for a team like Iowa, even a Sweet 16 appearance would be excellent for their basketball program. |

Iowa has been pretty good for awhile now in basketball. They played Creighton about 5 years ago at the Big Dance i believe and have made it every year since i believe.
