Foreign Talent
Dirk Nowitzki, Yao Ming, Steve Nash.
All these names are those of foreign talent, players who have come from other countries to play for the NBA, the National Basketball Association. It makes me sad, to think that the days of big men underneath the hoop, and small, agile but deadly players... Full Article |

Sorry, had to vent.
I think that foreigners should have their own league if a man thats country doesn't have a own league can get so good at a game that is not nationally played. |

Bullshit
Im sick of nationalists like you. Hell you're from a foriegn country(unless you're native american), Steve Nash is 6-2, that don't coralate to 7-0 and Yau doesn't shoot 3s so you most be talking about Dirk! So what do you got against Dirk? You hate Germans or what?? Did he beat your favorite team, almost by himself. I don't get it!

The NBA, NHL & MLB wouldn't be the same if it weren't for Germans, Russians, Canadians, Cubans, Dominicans, Japanese, Chinese or Yugoslavians. I think it has been a change for the better.

I dont have an anger with that their foreign, but more with the fact that its changing the way how we play.

So are you mad at players who decided not to shoot a free throw grany-style? Are you mad at players who decided to dunk rather than lay it up???

No, Im mad at 7 foot players who like to shoot threes, people who like to play out of position.
If we allow 7 foot people to shoot, soon all we will see are 7 foot people. 7 foot down under, 7 foot out on the three. Maybe its the evolution of the game, but I dont like it. |

Okay, think about this for a minute. How many basketball players would you say there are in the entire world? Millions. And how many, out of these millions, are 7 footers in the NBA who can not only knock down the 3 regularly, but also start for their team? I can think of only one-Dirk. And guess what, Dirk isn't even in the top 35 in the NBA in total 3 pointers made. At this pace we may see a handful of Dirk-type players reach the NBA in our lifetime. I wouldn't get too worried.

He's not a 7 footer though. He's the prototype sharp-shooter. I doubt he's much bigger than Bird, he's just not American.

Oh, quit your god damn complaining. The NHL is the most international sport of them all (see my big-ass rant below), you don't see us bemoaning the lack of Canadian players in the game. In fact, if anything, it's made the game healthier on an international level.

That's the same kind of argument they used to use to keep Blacks out of baseball, football and basketball. Xenophobia (look it up) is a bad thing. You are prejudiced against people who aren't like you, for no good reason. Having the foreign players increases the level of the talent pool. Changing the way we play? Nobody is stopping any team from playing the way that works best to win. Grow up, whiner.
