College Sports This forum is about some weird social strata involving brow-beating, bragging, one-upsmanship and self-proclaimed superiority. Not necessarily involving athletics.

Greatest Rivalry

I've always been curious. Down here in Texas it seems like Texas OU is the biggest rivalry in the world. I know Michigan OSU is close, Army Navy, and Carolina Dook in B-ball, but which is more recognized everywhere?

without a doubt......

The biggest rivalry in all of college sports is Michigan vs Ohio State. I don't think any others are really close.

I'd have to agree with Boondock...if nothing else for college football. Duke/UNC is pretty close. Here are some of my favorites:

Kansas City/Oakland: NFL
Kansas/Mizzou: College Basketball
Nebraska/Oklahoma: College Football

Of course, you can NEVER forget Yanks/Bo Sox.

I'd personally have to say either OU-Texas or Michigan-Ohio State are the biggest rivalries, especially in football. As for basketball, Duke-North Carolina is really the biggest there is.

Michigan / Ohio St. in football is pretty damn hot.

But I can promice, you, Duke vs. UNC, in Cameron Indoor Stadium, is the pinnacle of college sports. Cameron is the top college sports venue in the country (Sports Illustrated). Duke - Carolina is the best BB rivalry. There is NOTHING like a Duke-Carolina game in Durham. NOTHING!

Clemson-South Carolina baby!!

Not. But it is one of the better ones. Football, wise. Guess i'd have to go with that OSU-Michigan as well. But i can't fuckin' stand the Buckeyes. Texas-OU is pretty strong, as is OSU-OU. And although the games themselves are usually meaningless, you can't ignore how long Yale-Harvard & Army-Navy have been goin' on.

Well think I will add a bit of Northern flavour to the mix..

First off..I must say I am extremely jealous of the college sports you get to get all so caught up in

Up here we are hurting big time do to distances between Universities..and a slight difference in funding ( and yeah..I know..weather may be a factor )
so it is not of the calibur you get to enjoy. I had the pleasure of attending a high school football game in Dalton Georgia..was overwhelmed by the attendance...and the energy was intense .. .More then a CFL ( Canadian Football League ) gets...frikin sad in a wayNow.. in my opinion the greatest

Rivalry to me is

Montreal Canadiens - Toronto Maple Leafs
