The Jester's Quart: Who Owns the Olympics?

David Letterman has as much in common with the Fox News Channel as Dick Cheney does with an effective crisis management media strategy. But the two made strange bedfellows this week thanks to NBC Sports.

Both CBS's "The Late Show" and FNC's "Fox and Friends" did what NBC would give up all of...

A very good read Mark. Now I know I am not the typical sport viewer in the US. But for what it's worth, I used to love to watch the Winter Olympics. Now not so much. I have come up with the following reasons.

1. Waaaaaay too much figure skating in prime time. Figure Skating is boring and every Olympics the men's figure skating turns more and more gay, which makes it that much more repulsive.

2. Bob Costas

3. The death of Wide World of Sports, way back when especially in Olympic years ABC would actually cover things like Alpine Skiing and ski jumping prior to the start of the games. I actually knew about some of the athletes prior to the start of the games. Franz Klammer was not so no name guy from Austria, Jean Claude Kiley was not just some French guy with two boards strapped to his legs. The vast majority of sport programming in the US right now centers way to much on college sports like basketball. This shift in emphasis means you have to be really dedicated to follow the Alpine ski circuit or any other winter sport discipline.

Why must you point out his mistake? It was just an obvious error.

There's two ways to look at it:

1. He confused me with Chalifoux, which is either an honor for me or for him.

2. He was using "mark" in the wrestling sense, meaning that I'm a fan who easily will accept what is actually scripted fantasy. Now THEMS fightin' words.

So Switzerland!
