US Olympians - JackAss of the week March 3rd, 2006 - March 10th, 2006
![]() The 2006 USA Olympians are this week’s jackass. Sure, there were several noteworthy role model type individuals representing the USA in Turin Italy this year, but the ones that make headlines, are complete jackasses. Bode Miller. A downhill skier that was money in the bank for multiple medals ended up looking like a horses ass. After bragging about how he skied better drunk, and spent many a night in Italy taking Tequila shots, rather than preparing for his races, Miller was 0 for 4 with one race to go. What does he do to prepare? He twists his ankle playing basketball with some friends, jeopardizing his 5th and final race. He lost that one too. Jeret Peterson. A freestyle skier with million-dollar talent, and a five-cent head. This jackass finished off a night of boozing it up with a street fight in the mountains of Italy. He was kicked off of the team, and sent home to watch the remainder of the games on ABC. Mike Modano. The USA hockey team was a joke. I will definitely give Modano credit there, but not showing up for the last team meeting, and berating the USA hockey management staff to the press was in very, VERY poor taste. If I am not mistaken, the players were the ones on the ice, not the management. This was Modano’s way of passing the buck (in the public eye) when the fact is that his game wasn’t what it should have been. Teammates Shani Davis and Chad Hedrick. Calling these two teammates is a stretch. They squabbled about team loyalty, and called each other out in the press, and even played the race card. They were the epitome of unprofessional. Lindsey Jacobellis. Olympic snowboarder who had the Gold wrapped up, showboats on her final jump, just to fall down and end up with silver. Typical American showboating for no reason. Ben Smith. The head coach of the USA women’s hockey team cut the best female hockey player in the world from the team. As a result, the women ended up with the bronze medal, in their worst performance in the history of international women’s hockey. Sure, there were some good athletes representing USA in Turin. Sasha Cohen, and Apolo Anton Ohno are always fan favorites, but the media, and the fans, will always remember the Jackasses. Last edited by Shane; March 4th, 2006 at 12:56 AM. |

She's been called the best female hockey player in the world. Some may argue the point, but one thing is certain: history books will recognize Hayley Wickenheiser as a revolutionary in women's sport.
An elite athlete who has competed at both Summer and Winter Olympics, Wickenheiser continually pushes the boundaries of athletics. The first woman to record a point and later score a goal in a men's pro hockey game and a two-time invitee to the Philadelphia Flyers' rookie camp, Wickenheiser's determination to refine her skills has come at a price, though. She endured a painful separation from her young son and partner and incurred the wrath of some of her Canadian teammates who felt betrayed when she joined a Finnish men's pro league in 2003. Now how can a Canadian be cut from the USA team.. lol |

No father of the year award for him? I love this line...
"Fauviau's 16-year-old daughter, Valentine, is a rising star in French tennis." Yeah, no shit... because every player she beat was on drugs! |
