Living and Dying in Red Sox Nation
You just don’t understand, you just can’t understand, unless you live it…
The Red Sox played the Blue Jays at Fenway the other day, and I was falling asleep on my couch. I was dog tired, and zonked out somewhere around the sixth inning. In the bottom of the eleventh inning, I woke up, surprised... Full Article Last edited by JGAC; April 16th, 2004 at 09:23 AM. You perfectly captured how Maple Leafs fans feel about our team and hockey. The Leafs winning the Stanley Cup would dwarf any Blue Jays world series victory or Raptors NBA championship.

A very nice piece! When the Red Sox finally do win the Series again, it will most likely be the greatest celebration in the history of Boston. Greater than the two Super Bowl victories, greater than another Celtics NBA title, greater than the thrashing of the British at the Battle of Bunker Hill in the Revolutionary War (technically a victory for the British because they controlled the field, but they lost about 1000 men, opposed to the Americans who lost only about 400).
The only other thing that would come close would be if the bruins won the Stanley Cup again, though it would have been a lot bigger a few years ago when Ray Bourque was still with the team. |

Hey Balston, may God bless you for not bringing up any phoney curse talk. The Herald's Steve Buckley put it best when he said that the Red Sox failure to capture the crown is due to the three "isms" ... alcoholism, cronyism, and racism. Let the rest of the nation know it, true Red Sox fans do not believe in any goddamned curses.

why are you so against America, What the Fuck have we done to Canada to piss you guys off so much. It is okay to be pissed at Bush for what he has done in Iraq and shit, but don't blame every fucking american out there. We are just people like you man. Also don't blame the soldiers for what they are doing in Iraq, they too are just people, following orders, i mean for christ sake, give it up |

What the hell are you talking about? I have normally refrained from replying to most of your asinine posts since your poor grammar skills and ill-conceived rants suggest you are either a child or a mentally defective adult- not really worth my time and effort. But I had to reply to this one because I am curious how you equate my love for the Maple Leafs (note name of hockey team and not the beautiful Canadian flag) to hatred for all Americans? When have I ever, in any of my posts, declared a Jihad against my Yankee cousins? No, I have never done that. But I do recall posting something in another forum about my contempt for the American “rightwing/religious/clusterfucks” in commenting how STUPID the Montreal fans were for Booing the American Anthem. I have as much respect for Americans as I do for the Israelis, Palestinians, French, Afghanis, Iraqis and everyone else in the world. There are, however, elements of each culture for whom I have a fervent disgust and contempt. Why are you so insecure and sensitive that you would perceive a criticism of your dim-witted president and his ilk as an attack on all Americans? Do you identify so closely with your inbred commander-in-chief that I hit a nerve? I have also never stated any disparaging remarks towards your brave and honourable fighting men and women in Iraq. It’s a goddamn tragedy that they are there fighting, killing and dying for your venal Chimpanzee leader- who has never, in return, attended a single funeral, is cutting Veterans benefits and is promising an escalation of a needless war without a clear-cut objective. Perhaps if you stuck your tiny head out of your ass and looked around, you would probably realize that the world is quite different from the black and white comic book reality presented to you by FoxNews (FauxNews). But then again, I shouldn’t expect so much from a Yankees fan. |

I think that NYAllsports is over reacting, being a Cadadien in his post, he stated that he would favor a hockey momentous win over an NBA or baseball, seeing that Canadiens love hockey more than the other sports mentioned.

I have to hand it to the Boston fans. They showed a hell of a lot of class last night when they cheered the Canadian Anthem instead of succumbing to temptation and booing it like those assholes in Montreal did the American anthem. You won't find a more concentrated group of bandwagoneering, self-centered, selfish fans than in Montreal.

as an objective yankee fan, responding to this article brings a chuckle to my face...i think the reason cards or marlins fans don't cry after a regular season walk off hr is simple...they have won the world series in the past 80 years or so...regular season is important, but we don't get emotionally involved in it because the post season is almost inevitable...that's the time to get excited....
and your dreams of one day winning the world series is just a reality us yankee fans are treated to almost every year..to us, when we beat the red sox and crush there dreams for another year...that alones makes our season..the world series is just the topping |

Rooting for the Yankees is like pulling for George Clooney to get the girl at the end of the movie. It is also pointless and joyless. When your sense of expectation includes a World Series victory year after year, you become jaded and cannot fully enjoy the victory.
When a championship finally does come to Boston (and aside from early season setbacks, this may be the year), the celebration will be like none other, the joy we as fans will feel will be unmatched in the modern sports era. So, while each of the Yankee's multiple championships are just another ring...just one by the Red Sox will be historical. |
