Maybe I am a bit prejudice due to the fact that I am a San Francisco Giants fan. Maybe this news item is getting old and you are tired of discussing the steroid issue in general, but after finishing chapter 13 in the new book Game of Shadows, I could not help myself. Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams easily win this weeks Jackass of the week. You probably ask the reason why I am picking these two as co-jackasses, well let me explain.

I am probably the last person on earth who is against freedom of the press, if it was not for this righteous right Sportsrant.com would not exist. I always, at least try, to back my stories, rants, or editorials with facts. Wada and Williams have so many facts in their book it just amazes me, some being so detailed; you wonder where they got them from. This is something that we probably will never know, something that they will always decline to offer I am sure.

So far the only stated source in the book is Kimberly Bell, Bonds’ ex-girlfriend who lost in court to Bonds and wrote her own book on her life as Barry’s biatch. This is common sense, if I was trying to sell a book about someone in the media, I would bad mouth them anyone that would get in my way.

The trouble that I have with these two reporters/authors is that their detailed events are by “anonymous’ sources and they refuse to share at a breathe where they received their information. Are they totally relying on Bell’s accounts of everything or is Barry’s Family leaking everything. Is it Greg Anderson, Bonds’ trainer who is trying to make a fast buck since he is not getting paid any longer?

If these two want any sort of credit, the please come forward and share some of your sources or at least make them credible, not “he said, she said”

I think this choice of yours is a little biased but i do agree. They have only used Kimberly Bell as a source until you get later into the book and they find some things. But i wont mention what they are because your not there yet. Don't get me wrong I hate Barry Bonds with a passion. But i really liked the beginning of the book it didn't just call out bonds it called out many athletes that had used steroids or performance enhancing drugs. Although i will always believe Bonds has used steroids they need more sources in this book and it would be a lot more reliable but then again im only in chapter 16 so i guess i'll see when i get later into the book if they back their story up more.
But my belief will always be that Bonds has taken performance enhancing drugs even if it never comes out in the media that he has taken them for sure. Most likely just the bias attitude towards Bonds but it is a decent book, but i agree it needs more sources Mike.

The farther that I have been reading in the Game Of Shadows, the more suspicious I get. I am deep into part two, the investigation and I am still not impressed. So far the fact of the matter is that they are using evidence that was gathered by the investigators, something that was already available to the public (from what I believe). Once again, as I have stated in a hundred other posts, this information was leaked and the San Francisco Chronicle published it!!

THAT IS THE PART I WANT TO KNOW. How did these writers and the Chronicle get their hands on sealed Grand Jury Testimony!! That is the part that we need to investigate.

I have been slacking as of late still stuck on Ch 16 but tests after tests has a lot to do with it. Hopefully i get back to reading again soon.
