Boxing!
What's the story with all the boxing fans!!!! Isn't there any?
Are there takers on Mayorga and why? |

There aren't too many here. But i'm a HUGE boxing fan. Glad to see another one here!!
I guess Mayorga has a shot vs. Oscar, but not much of one IMO. Mayorga's only claim to fame is beating Vernon Forest twice. I wouldn't pay for this fight if you gave me all of the money. I have zero interest in watching this... all this is going to do is set up Oscars next fight in Sept. vs. Floyd Mayweather. I'll predict De La Hoya by an easy UD. My boy Ishe Smith is on the undercard but it won't be televised. |

That is exactly what is happening here. Oscar is preparing for his retirement fight against Mayweather. A fight I STRONGLY believe he CAN NOT win.
Against Mayorga, he should come out on top hands down. |

I'm with you... i don't see anyway for Oscar to beat Floyd (unless its at 160). But let me ask you this... do you think Oscar really cares or not if he wins that fight? I don't know the answer of course, but he's going to get around $15-$20 mil in his final fight of his career. Win or lose he is going to get a HUGE payday before he hangs them up and sticks to promoting. I'm sure for his "legacy" he'd love to win the fight, but it is really all that important to him?
Tomorrow night on ESPN2 (wednesday night fights), make sure you check out the up and coming star Allan Green! The guy is flat out NASTY. http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=149791 |

In case you never saw it, here's a little preview of Allan. This is vs. undefeated prospect (Chin Checker) Jaidon Codrington.

I will definitely check that out on Wed/. I dont miss to many fights.
Oscar, win or lose will get paid. It's the other fights that need to worry about him losing or retiring. IF he does retire (which I hope he does) no other fighter will EVER get multimillion $$ fights. Oscar is the guy to fight if you want a pay day. Look @ Bernard. His biggest pay-day before he fought Oscar was (and correct me if I wrong) I think 1.9mil. When he fought Oscar he got his 10mil and his dues. This cat had been fighting for about 15 yrs before he got his. Awesome fighter. Also for Mayweather. He would be a fool not to take this fight. He just turned down a fight. Wise move! Only 750K. He paid to get out of that contract. He too will finally get paid when he fights Oscar. Same with Tyson. No one ever got $$ from a fight unless they fought Iron Mike! Hey btown! Your boy Codrington's got power! |

Codrington? Not my boy at all, can't stand him... you mean Ishe?
Floyd just paid 750K to get out of his contract with Bob Arum. He just turned down a fight vs. Antonio Margarito for, ready for this, for 8 million bucks. He claims he bruised his hand against Judah and can't be ready by August. I guess it makes sence because he can get much money money a month later vs. Oscar. I just really wanted to see him fight Margarito, that dudes nasty too. That would be an amazing fight, IMO. You watch Wlad Klitschko kick the shit out of Byrd (sig, you see it?)... what an ass pounding. Wlad is back. |

Antonio is a really good fighter. A true brawler! If Mayweather wants to get into the hall of fame he can not be ducking fighters. As he is doing!
That may be the start of an excuse later on if he loses to Oscar. On top of him losing his trainer, he now has a injured hand. Hasn't this guy seen tape of Gotti? What a war he was in with Ward (three times), with twice busted hands. I did see the Byrd fight. What a beat down! I stronger feel that if you have a good jab, everything else will follow. |

Wlad DESTROYED Bryd. It helped that Bryd didn't really do a damn thing the whole fight.
The problem with boxing and what is really keeping it away from a 2nd golden age is the dis-unity of the whole sport. Name 1 other sport that would let more then 1 person/team be the best? It's idiotic to have 3 world champions in the same weight class. Boxing needs to basically get an Emperor to unite the belts and set up uniform rules and figure out who the true #1 is. God, it pisses me off. |

I like Chris Byrd the person. He seems to be a really nice and stand up guy. But Chris Byrd the boxer is far too overrated. I don't think it's his fault, he's just too small to really compete in the heavyweight division. Every guy who has a belt is so much bigger than him, like Wlad for example. Whats 6'1, 215 lb Byrd going to do vs. 7'3 350 lb Valuev??
Oh the 3 belt (4 if you count the WBO) system is shit. But it will be that way forever because of all the money involved. Boxing needs a central comission (like other US sports), but that won't happen either because it is a world wide sport. I love the sport, i don't like how its run. Everything is all about money for the most part now, and its sickening. |

For example... one of the judges in the Mayweather/Judah fight... only gave 1 round to Judah. WTF? There is no way in the world he was watching the same fight as everyone else. Judges should be held more accountable for their score cards. |

yea like take your example..the 1 judge that differed from the other 2 should be brought into the ring and forced to go 3 rounds with the loser of the fight
