as a bills fan, this news saddens me.

i have some pretty good memories of thomas (notwithstanding the whole helmet incident). i'm going to choose to remember those memories instead.

come on, dudes. he smoked half a joint (as far as i know). it is not oxycontin, 400 kilos of peruvian flake, or some good old fashioned smack. just who was minding thurman's business in the hotel anyway?

haven't y'all figured out that the gov't is as involved, if not more so, in the drug trafficking business than the columbians? hey, oliver north, care to plead the fifth on that one?

I've gotta agree with Zen Machine and the current Public Service Message by The Drug Counsel.... "It's just a little pot!"

To call it news that Thurman Thomas got caught with half a joint in his posession is pretty weak. I'm not condoning his behavior, but let's call it what it is!... It's hardly a misdemeanor. Just write the man a ticket and let him tell it to the judge.

When I first heard that the Thurminator got busted, I thought on no, not the Thurminator. Then I hear it was a 1/2 a joint. What a joke. If he was not an ex-professional athlete, the police would have confiscated it and threw it out. They are just trying to make an example of him. Not only should this not smear his reputation, it shouldn't have even happened.

the more i think about this story, the more it PISSES ME OFF. okay, i'm a dyed-in-the-wool libertarian (thought i'd warn y'all) and us libs have already figured out how huge of a failure the "war on drugs" has become over the years. i will step out and condone his behavior. i just wish some "highly visible" figure in the world of politics or sports would just tell the media, "yeah, i smoke pot, and i smoke out of a bong. as a matter of fact, i made the bong myself while finishing up my doctorate at m.i.t. and after 10 or 12 hits, i drink the fucking bong water. now, go find a story that merits reporting."

we have a horrible situation in iraq.
we have a horrible situation in afghanistan. (how quickly our gov't forgot that the soviets spent about 9 or 10 fruitless years fighting there, while we supplied the afghanis with weapons)
we have an economy in a state of shock
we have too many homeless
we don't even take half-decent care of the veterans who have laid it on the line in conflicts past
[b]as far as i know, there isn't anyone in the upper echelion of gov't who has a son or daughter even SERVING in iraq.

yeah sure .... priorities.

I agree with you about 99.9%. While I don't condone drug use, I'm not one to say anything if someone does. But, it was only pot, and only a half a joint at that. At least it wasn't crack or heroin.

As for the political points I agree with you 100% there. Lets worry about our own business before we invade other peoples business.
