I agree, but to play devil's advocate...any look around a ballpark will reveal signs for products all over the outfield and in every conceivable corner. Even the stadiums themselves are named after companies. Looking back, commercials have been invading games since people have been paying to see them.

One of the funniest things I have seen in a while was a picture from what must have been prior to 1950. It was a sign in Philly's baseball park that read, "The Phillies Use Lifebouy Soap," underneath which someone wrote, "...And They Still Stink."

Signs on the outfield wall is one thing, but on the bases, on-deck circles, pitching rubber, ect. that's something else. At least it is in my mind.

Watch a game, how many times do you actually get close enough on TV to see an ad on base clearly and able to read it.

That's true. But if they were there the cameramen would be zooming in on it and the commentators would be discussing it, thus creating publicity.
