Thank God the NFL Draft is over!

Is there a more hyped up big-bag-o-nothin' than the NFL draft? Months of speculation, predictions and measurement takin' that ends up being a crap shoot anyway, at least after the first couple rounds. And imagine, this thing used to go twenty-something rounds or more!

Anyway, would it be any different if you simply checked out your teams draft on the internet every few hours to see how the picks went...or even waited until after it was over?

How do you all feel...is watching the draft live...listening to all the so-called experts and talking heads...worth the four hours it takes to get through the first round?

Judging from Friday's posts,I will be in the minority here, but I have way better things to do with my weekend then watching hour after hour of the NFL draft.I'll just take a few minutes and watch ESPN after it's done later that day. So,yeah, way over hyped IMO.

I could not DISAGREE with you more...which is nothing new...I love the draft and seeing how things play out what teams do to fill their needs who trades who and what for what...its exciting and yeah they are talking heads but to me its a ton of fun and I love seeing what my team does and what other teams do to build their teams for the future.

I for one and others on here could not wait till this past saturday to see how it all played out...this draft was shocking in many ways and just added to the fun. Does it get boring and repeatative yeah but to me its greeeaaattt!

No disrespect for those who enjoy it, but to me it's dreadful. I really do not understand the signifigance placed on the draft. Of course I never understood the signifigance placed on college sports in general anyways, but that's just me.

I am confused...the signifigance of collge football in the NFL? Are you kidding me...where do the players come from that start on each and every NFL team...the draft in the NFL is probably the most important draft in sports. I can see why some think its boring and don't waste their time but to question the point is really strange to me??

I think you misunderstood my point, it seems to me that there is a great importance placed on college sports like football. It also seems to me that the colleges gain way more out of this deal than the athletes, but maybe I am wrong.

I mean take this kerfluffle surrounding Reggie Bush. If all he did was get his parents a nicer house what's wrong with that? And now there is talk of him losing the Heismann and possible reprecussions against USC? When did the N in NCAA start standing for nazi?

Well I try to disregard all that fluff surrounding the players and what they did and didn't do wrong or right and see the talent coming out of college and see what teams pick up who to build their franchises for the future

Is the draft overhyped? I'd say 100% YES! Most of these guys picked will never set foot on an NFL field. Something like 33% of the first round picks will end up being 'busts' and forgotten 3 years from now. Do we really need 4 months of draft talk? Probably not.

That said, the draft was on with me parked infront of the TV from 11am until 6pm. Granted my interest started to fade after the raiders 2nd round pick, but i still watched to see who went where. I had the wife do the vaccuming in between commercials because i didn't want to miss the analysis. (i told her i would do it on sunday but she didn't want to wait, lol) If you really follow a team closely, IMO you can't help but to be very interested in the draft. Seeing who will fill out your team... seeing who your rivals got, watching and waiting for trades. The whole day is like christmas to football diehards.

This isn't like a MLB or NHL draft. In those sports the players drafted will most times play in the minors for years before they get their chance. There isn't too many direct impact players. What makes the NFL draft so great is you could potentially get 5 players who could be instant impact players on your team in some fashion.

I will say that i didn't watch more than 15 minutes of the second day of the draft though (too much to do and the Flyers game). The second day to me is where you just check the net to see which teams got players you were interested in.
