NL Central race brings out best in Reds

By Sara Normand

Forget the knee-shaking, nail-biting race that was supposed to be the NL East this year. In fact, the only thing tight about that division this year is the Mets' unlikely stranglehold of the Braves.

Now that we're all spared from the gazillion NFL draft preview stories on...

I will not have anyone talk down on my team. The Mets and Braves will fight to the finish this year. Throw in the Phils who seem to get no respect this year and we have a battle.

Now the funniest comment i read in this article was the following: "Even if the Cardinals have Albert Pujols, you have to admit that the Reds' offense is just better. On any given day, any hitter from leadoff hitter Ryan Freel to the pitcher (yes, pitcher) could hit one out and sparkplug a burst of scoring". Are you kidding? The Reds have a batter offense than the Cards?!

I admire your optimism, but it is overwhelmed by too many beers by the 7th. The Reds won't make the playoffs. This is will guarantee.

A little math

Sorry Goat, but the writer is correct about the Reds having a better offense. Why do I say this? Because I understand the basic concepts of math.

The Reds have outscored the Cardinals this year. And it's not a fluke or hot start. They outscored the Cardinals last year as well.

The Reds very easily could fall out of the running if the pitching fails, but your questioning that the Reds offense is better than the Cardinals is unfounded.

That being said, I'm enjoying the Reds hot start.
