Basketball in White and Black

Dear Fellow Ranters,

I enjoy college basketball. I have watched it for many years and hope to watch it for many more. I have noticed that the players in the game have an increased skill level and have gotten darker in their skin color. When I first watched college basketball in Georgia where I grew up, most of the players were white. Now most of the players are black. Our society has gone from a bad, dark place into a better place. Not perfect, just better. That is fine, I have also noticed an increase in the skill and ability of the average player.

MY QUESTION IS: are there coaches that only recruit black basketball players? This is kinda hard on the white kids if they are not recruited. Also are there good white basketball players that do not go to a certain college where they are recruited, because it is a black program and all of the teammates are black? Maybe the white player thinks that their playing time will be reduced at a black program. I am not including, in my question, colleges that are "predominately black college or university".

For example, Coach John Thompson built a great basketball program at Georgetown. All of the players that I recall were black. Did John Thompson only recruit black players to come to Georgetown?

Thanks for your comments.

You know,I just wonder when,if ever, our society will ever get past separating people based on skin color. This is what made Martin Luther King Jr.such a role model and hero of mine.He could see everbody as just human beings created by one God,even in a time of racial inequality.Sure there are schools that are minority based, but excluding those,if there is anbody recruiting anybody else for basketball, any other sport, jobs, friends, organizations,or whatever based on color, then, people,we have a problem. This is really tough when we have a government led by George Bush that ( I will stop short of calling him a racist)clearly discriminates against the poor.
