Okay so Daniele De Rossi is the clear cut winner of this weeks JAOW. Sure he has apologized in an "official" letter for elbowing the US striker Brian McBride.

De Rossi elbowed United States forward Brian McBride in the face in Saturday's 1-1draw, earning a red card and drawing blood from a cut under McBride's left eye. The cut required three stitches to close

In the letter, De Rossi took full responsibility for his error and explained how he apologized personally to McBride after the game. De Rossi also apologized for damaging soccer's image.

FIFA will also consider Uruguayan referee Jorge Larrionda's report on the incident and TV replays.

The red card automatically prevents De Rossi from playing in Thursday's final group game against the Czech Republic.

Coach Marcello Lippi has indicated that Italy is also expecting a multi-game ban.

definitely a jackass but my award goes to the uruguayan referee Jorge Larrionda...who did the worst job of any referee in the world cup this year...he should be banned for the rest of the cup and future tournaments of significance...

True De Rossi was a arse and even the Italian fans are questioning whether he should be allowed to continue with the Azzurri, but I gotta agree with ssigs. That Uruguayan ref was El Stinko!

Well maybe you're right that the Ref deserved the current JAOW but actually I did not think of when I was searching for a new Jackass!!
