Pronger asks Oilers for trade

The Edmonton Oilers are in the midst of what could be a severe shakeup to their roster just days after their Game 7 Stanley Cup Final loss.

NHL sources indicate that Oilers' defenceman Chris Pronger has requested a trade from the club based on "personal, family considerations."

Yeah it's starting to look like Edmonton was a one shot team. Looks like Roloson was just a rent-a-goalie and will be gone in the offseason as well. Unless the talks change drastically, I don't think we will see the Oil make any kind of cup run next season.

I think Rolo is going to hit paydirt with the oilers. I don't think they're going to totally depend their season on JM, despite his play in the SC run.

As for Pronger, the oilers are going to get a top knotch player in return.

I just wouldn't be suprised to see the Oil save the money by not re-signing Roloson and go with the combination of JM and Conklin.

And i think Pronger is going to get them multiple players. I just don't see any team giving a big name player for him. It will probably be an established prospect, a good 2nd liner, and pick or something.

I dont see him going anywhere. This is just rumblings that will happen every off-season. I think the rumor is bs.

TSN.CA: Jame Cybulski report the Edmonton Oilers may be close to trading defenceman Chris Pronger, possibly within the next 24 hours. The Anaheim Ducks are one of the teams believed very much in the running for Pronger, which Cybulski reports "could be an absolute nightmare for teams matching up against a duo like Pronger and one of the other best defencemen in hockey- Scott Neidermayer."

Spector's Note: The Oilers are believed seeking a top forward, defenceman and draft pick for Pronger. Looking at the Ducks roster, I would speculate that means either Ryan Getzlaf, Joffrey Lupul or Corey Perry would be one of the forwards and Francois Beauchemin or Vitaly Vishnevski would be one of the defencemen, plus the Ducks first round pick next season or a top prospect. Again, that's just my guesswork and not based on inside info.

**Pronger AND Neidermeyer on the same blue line? Good god. The easiest job in the NHL would become the starting goaltender in Anaheim.

Done deal - Pronger to the Ducks.

The Anaheim Ducks have traded one roster player, one non-roster player and several conditional high-end draft picks to the Oilers in exchange for Pronger.

They origionally had Geoffry Lupul as the "one roster player", but quickly took the story down and took his name out of it. Those several high-end picks better include some 1st rounders. The Oilers got raped here.

Yeah sounds like it. Seems like there would have been a better deal out there
for the Oilers.We don't know all the details,but I just don't get not getting back a high end player.
