Flyers Off-season
Nothing major happening yet, but with the free agency period starting this saturday, it looks like the Flyers could be active. Also, a trade of Esche or Nitty seems very possible. This from Spectors...

A need for speedy D-men? Wow, that's a concept never heard in flyerland for very, very long time.
" trade of Esche or Nitty seems very possible" Either of those guys? I expect them to hold onto Nitty. Gerber to Flyer . . . j/k.

I've heard rumors including both of those guys being traded (it would be one or the other, not both). You expect the FLYERS (Clarke) to hold on to the right goalie? Really? Seems to me they do the exact opposite of what they should when it comes to goalies. lol I actually want them to keep both Esche and Nitty. They are getting paid $2 mil combined so they are very cap friendly. Make Nitty the #1 and Esche the #2. UNLESS! What can we do to get Lundqvist here??? lol |

Come on Clarkie, today is your last chance. Please buy out Hatcher or Rathje. That will give us around $10mil to sign 2 dmen and a scoring winger!
PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER: Tim Panaccio reports the Flyers have about $6 million to spend this summer (barring any salary dumps) to bring in a puckmoving defenceman and a right winger. "Forget about Edmonton's Chris Pronger - who will not be a free agent and would have to be acquired in a trade - or Ottawa's Zdeno Chara. They're too pricey. Think Ruslan Salei of Anaheim, Buffalo's Jay McKee, or other B-class players."I have no intention of spending $6 million on one player," Flyers general manager Bob Clarke said this week." The Flyers might be interested in Buffalo's Mike Grier or New Jersey's Jamie Langenbrunner, who played for Ken Hitchcock in Dallas. The Flyers recently decided not to qualify Branko Radivojevic, and have $7 million available to re-sign key players. Spector's Note: Those big signings last summer of Derian Hatcher and Mike Rathje are coming home to roost this summer for the Flyers. It's a good thing they draft and trade well or else this franchise would be in real trouble. |

We now have like 9 d-men and about 3 of them are any good. We BETTER be working towards something a little bigger and better than this. |

Flyers Sign Center Randy Robitaille
http://www.philadelphiaflyers.com/pr...chive/2652.asp I don't know what to think. We have a million players on our roster right now. It seems as though they are stocking up players to make some trades. As it stands right now, it appears that the Flyers are going into next season with just about the same exact team as last year. Maybe they don't realize that didn't go so well? |

MONTREAL GAZETTE: Pat Hickey suggests the Canadiens should look into making an offer sheet to Philadelphia Flyers forward Simon Gagne, who is seeking a new deal worth $4.5 million per season, which the Flyers are believed balking at paying that figure. Hickey notes "he compensation would be four draft choices, including two first-rounders over the next three years", which the Habs may be unwilling to do but suggested it wouldn't hurt to look into it.
Spector's Note: With most of the big name UFAs snapped up already, it's possible a team, be it the Canadiens or another club, tests a rival club's cap constraints by pitching an offer sheet to a top RFA player. If the Flyers and Clarke let this happen I may seriously be done with this team. GET HIM SIGNED YOU MORONS! |

Why does this thread even exist? It's not like there's anything to talk about.
