Top pick Erik Johnson going to college
The Blues top pick in this past Junes NHL draft has decided to attend the University of Minnesota rather than join the Blues in the fall.

I hope this doesnt happen to Kessle. I really want him in a B's uniform ASAP.
Even if he does go to college, the team still gets his cotractual right for like five years right?

He must be signed by a NHL team within 3 years or he can and will be entered back into the draft. So the Blues hold his rights for the next two seasons without having to sign him.
The only reason i knew this was because it was an issue for the Flyers to get Carter and Richards signed. After the draft they played for their junior teams. Then there was the lockout. After that the Flyers had to get them signed for last season or they would be entered back into the draft. |
