UFC 62 - 8/26/2006
First two fights have been announced...
Chuck Liddell vs. Renato Sobral Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar The Griffin/Bonnar rematch was needed and its finally here. If they can put on another war like the first fight, this could be another great night of fighting. This could be a card worth buying (if i didn't have a wedding that night, maybe i'll catch the replay)... i can't wait to see what other fights are added. |

well the chuck liddell fight has the potential to be a good one cause sobral is on a massive winning streak since he lost to liddell last time....but that streak doesn't include the best light heavyweights...so if liddell is healthy, he should take sobral again
griffin/bonnar...to me, this is a step down for griffin...he worked his way up to tito ortiz and gave him a good fight and now he's matched up against bonnar...who imo lost to keith jardine(but got the decision) and lost to rashad evans... |

Yeah it may be a step down for Griffin, but its not like he has a choice. Plus, they are putting it on for the entertainment value. The first fight was simply amazing. Neither fighter is in line for a title shot at this point, but a big win for Griffin here and a couple others could get him there.
The Liddell fight is my problem with the UFC. I don't believe for one second Sobral is the #1 ranked guy behind Liddell. And the UFC doesn't want one of their most marketable fighters to lose. They are putting Liddell in with Sobral because they know he is going to win. This, IMO, is why they don't have rankings.... people can't bitch because the title holders aren't in there with the top ranked fighters. |

silva really is a beast and if you follow mma outside of ufc their is no need to build him up...but your right..for the ufc fans who dont know who he is..they need to talk him up....i think he fought in ufc before..not positive on that one and to lazy to look it up....

Yeah i don't follow MMA outside of the UFC at all and I don't believe i've ever heard of him. He's not the same Silva who blasted Leben last Fight Night Live is he? That Silva seemed too light. At this point i can't imagine Liddell/Silva being a huge PPV as of yet.

Huh, thanks for the link. I hope he gets on the undercard of the next PPV with Liddell fighting. It did mention it could be a 3 fight deal. I'd like to get a look at him. His record does not seem all that impressive, and i certainly can see why he left the UFC.

Okay, so i did some digging. I found out Silva is fighting Quintin Jackson in PRIDE next. It was interesting to see that this Jackson guy already beat Liddell in PRIDE in 2003. And Silva has already beaten Jackson two times by KO in the 1st and 2nd rounds. Looks like Silva is better than his record shows

the second fight against jackson was shown last week on the pride show on msg...knocked him out with a good muy tai knee...even though his record doesn't seem impressive...he's beaten some big time fighters...not in the ufc though...the rules in pride are different...more lenient

Watched Josh Haynes vs Micheal Bisping.Kinda weird seeing Haynes' fat rolls
around his waist representing the US.Oh well , Haynes got creamed. Then Kenny Florian and Sam Stout.I blinked and Stout was tapping out.Very short match. |

Where did you see these fights Rusty? Replay on Spike or something? Josh Haynes was a HUGE fat dude before. I think he said he dropped over 100 pounds. Thats why he looks like he has rolls... he dropped the fat but the skin is still stretched out.
