The Jester’s Quart: Gold Medal Mess
I really don’t know another way to put this, so I’ll just say it:
Isn’t there anyone else concerned that American athletes, participating in the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad, could be coming home in body bags? We’re less than a month away from the Summer Olympics in Athens, and I’ve heard... Full Article Last edited by Greg_Wyshynski; July 15th, 2004 at 05:50 PM. |

There’s no clear answer, no obvious strategy, save for one course of action:
and IF something does unfortunately happen - everyone will blame it on Bush. |

I'm not going to waste my time explaining to yet another Liberal the meaning of why we went to war when we all know (Bullshit & politics aside) why.
To constantly continue with this Vast Right wing conspiracy crap is senseless as well as baseless. Period. |

The bottom line is that all nations need to help in the security of the Olympics and come together during these games to provide security so nothing happens and the games go on without anything happening

The bottom line is that there wouldn't be any terrorist attacks on Americans in Iraq if the United States hadn't sent military personnel to Iraq. Whether you're for or against the war, that's a fact. Not sure where you got this "vast right wing conspiracy crap" from either my column or my reply. -G |

Greg,
That is the correct bottom line, but to a point, A majority of the Iraqi people dont want the violence, but I do agree with most of your last statement |

Your right.
The attacks would be HERE in America. That's what we ALL want right? To wake up one day with our neighborhoods and towns being gassed and poisoned because we didn't stop the funding and the total migration of the terrorist movement to occupy yet another country. Perhaps we should have waited another 18 U.N. resolutions to do something about it huh? Maybe we should be passing out some more of those anti-USA & Israeli books to the school kids across the Middle East - Hell...why stop there...how about we give them the bomb that will annihilate half the country? So, what's is the alternative Greg? It so easy to sit here behind our computers and play arm chair quaterback and psychoanalyze the whole situation from afar and say it's OUR fault we are getting killed because we are there and not here. That's obvious, but it's NOT why we're there. |

1. "The attacks would be here in America." Well, they already were here. And on 9/11, we had troops in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, so having "targets" over there didn't stop them from attacking over here. 2. The Iraq issue shouldn't be a litmus test for someone's stance on homeland securtity. I was all for the action in Afgahnastan because they were the ones that hit us and were protecting the pricks like Bin Laden. But when attention was taken away from al qaeda and placed on Iraq (just in time for the 2002 Congressional elections, no less)...Bush lost me on that one. We can have all the good intentions in the world in what we do, but our reputation has taken an incredible hit for it. Quote:
BTW, Con, you'll get a kick out of this: Another reader e-mailed me and basically called me a conservative asshole. So I guess the column is open to interpretation. (He also called me Albanian, which really gets my Irish blood boiling )_G |
