College Sports This forum is about some weird social strata involving brow-beating, bragging, one-upsmanship and self-proclaimed superiority. Not necessarily involving athletics.

Your superstitions??

Sports Ranters,

The sports gospel will return very soon, but in the meantime I'm working on a piece about fan superstitions in college football for a large media outlet. I'm trying to get in touch with a few fans to see what superstitions they have. If anyone is superstitious at all, drop me an email at sportssuperstitions@hotmail.com. I'd probably ask you the following-

Questions-

Do you have any gameday superstitions?

How did it get started?

What are some big games where it worked?

What do other people say about it?

Why do you do it?

Let me know if you can help at all. Thanks.

Wow... as nuts as i am about sports, i don't think i can help you here Mark. I mean there are a lot of things I like to do while watching sports... Taco Bell on football sundays, and beer and wings at a bar during hockey games (some) while wearing a Flyers jersey. But I don't do these things all the time and there isn't anything i religiously do that i can think of.

However, maybe i should start seeing as i've never seen any of my major 3 teams win as of yet.

I have a few that I do every day. On game day my self and my father do the same thing. Whenever we walk down the stairs we have a Cowboys sign that hangs at the bottom of the steps, we touch the sign 3 times (just like Notre Dame does), and then we touch the Notre Dame sign that hangs right next to it. We also will sit on the same couches I am on the left of the room and he is on the right of the room. It's something that has been happening for years, and not sure how it started. As a player I still do the same things as I did on game days for myself, even getting dressed. I have to put my left leg in on my pants first then my right. I always put on my left sock then my left shoe on...then the right side. Shirt always goes on last. Then any other accessories. Any more questions let me know. Athletes and there stupidstitions...I hate it, but I still do them today!
