Royals domination of Red Sox

KC Royals have taken five games in a row from the BoSox. Too bad we couldn't move into the AL East and maybe we could improve our record

HAHA......I just didn't know if I would ever put up a thread that says "Royals domination of Red Sox" ever again so I have to shout it out while I can.

Yeah,I hear ya.I just moved out of Tampa and there was nothing better than when they beat the Yankees or Sox which they did a decent job of doing.

Just hoping for the day that the Royals will have a meaningful game in the later parts of the season.

Maybe, but due to the current payroll disrepancies between the big market and smaller market teams,it will be an uphill battle.Just too hard to keep your really good players.

Each team even the better one has one team that gives them trouble. It varies from season to season. The bottom line here is the sox really weren't all that good this year and once the wheels fell off there was no getting back.

As far as the "small market" can't compete statement. I offer up the Oakland A's and the Florida Marlins as a rebuttal. If an owner wants to win he can, and if he is smart he will make a little money along the way. The Royals were once a great and competitive franchise and could be once again. THEY have to decide that THEY want to compete. It isn't necessary to spend 180 mil, but you do have to spend a little more. Don't say you can't afford Damon when his contract is up, sign him and show some desire to WIN!

Yeah, but the A's and Marlins are constantly losing their players to the bigger market teams. How they're winning is not the norm in baseball.Of course exceptions pop up here and there but their is no consistancy.

The Royals are looking to go .500 next year and then hope to compete in '08. KC fans would come out in drones if they could get up to .500. They are just waiting for a contender. This new GM is making all the difference and has made a huge difference.
I'm hoping KC owner David Glass has given the reins to the GM and will stay out of his way. If so, there could be some good times ahead.

That is my point from another perspective. You have to at least try to put a winner on the field. KC used to draw a lot of fans because they won. Oakland competes and if they would spend a little more money they would make a world series. The A's problem is their in a Giants town, theirs is not a small market it's a split market. As for the Marlins, Florida will always be a bad market because most of the folks down there are already fans of other teams. KC is a great baseball town and will support a winner.

They did get a $250 million dollar boost from taxes in the KC area to renovate their stadium. We are hoping they will design it to make some more money as well as get people to the ballpark more often. It is truly a beautiful ballpark but needs some help.

Great! I liked the old ballpark a little bit, except for the phony turf it had at first. The waterfall was a nice touch. Went to some game there in the mid 80's.

Yeah, the fountains are a huge hit. KC is considered the "City of Fountains" or something like that so they really will emphasize that in the re-do. There will also be a small amphi-theater for concerts and stuff. Somehow they are going to make a bridge out in centerfield where you can watch the game from a lofted viewpoint.

Build it quick so they can make Herm Edwards take a flying leap off it.
