I took the day off to paint the basement with my wife. Kids went to school right before the planes hit and we considered going to get them out of school because we didn't know what might happen. So then we left to get paint at Lowe's and in the checkout lane these people were freaking out saying things like "they hit the White House", "there are 10 planes taken hostage" and "nobody can find the president". It was insane the rumors that were flying. So we rushed home just in time to see the second building collapse.
Personally, I was in daze for like 48 hours. Glued to the television, not wanting to miss a single second because I might miss something. And I'll be honest, everytime a plane flies over my house, a thought pops in my head that it could crash into the house. Crazy, I know. I can't imagine what New Yorkers must have gone through.

Anyway........

Not too crazy Jayhawk, I had similar thoughts cos the plane that went down in Pennsylvania actually landed about 15-20 minutes away from my Mom and Dad's house.

damn, that's scary. I live in Kansas for crying out loud. Like any terrorist has ever even heard of Kansas.

I can't even imagine seeing a plane in downtown New York and not being frightened for a second.

I was at work (previous job) when someone called and said a plane just flew into the Twin Towers. My first thought was "who gave that person a licence to fly a plane", not realizing what was happening. And when the 2nd tower got hit my thoughts turned into "holy shit".

Its so hard to believe this was 5 years ago.

Yeah,I was at work too.I remember thinking that this was bigger then Pearl Harbor at first. World War III had started. But then we invaded Iraq instead.

I unfortunately got to watch the second plane hit the tower live on TV. What a time that was....I agree with jay...hard to believe it was that long ago!
