The Jester’s Quart: On The Mets Bandwagon

If you’re a regular reader, you know I’m a Mets, Jets, Nets and Devils fan. I owe the first three loyalties to my father; then again, a quick check of their respective winning percentages over the last 30 years makes me believe he might actually owe me.

I respect my father as one of the...

Another great article Greg!

IMO, not that certainly doesn't make your dad a bandwagon Mets fan. If he's been a Mets fan forever, then absolutely not. Has he followed them this closely in previous year? Maybe not... but what is the gauge on the amount of interest one must show to their team year in and year out? Not to mention if you are a fan of all sports, its very hard to find the time to follow every detail of evert team/player. There comes a point where you have to pick certain favorite teams to follow closer than others.

Like me, I'm a die-hard Flyers fan (F the Devils!). Hockey is by far my favorite sport. But i'm also a baseball, football, college football, college basketball, tennis, boxing, UFC, and soccer fan. I love them all and of course have favorites i follow in each of them. But lets say one year the Flyers totally suck... its natural that i will spend less time following them to free up time to follow favorites in other sports. It doesn't mean i would like the Flyers any less or pick a new team. Any person with a job, wife/gf/bf, kids, family, etc... will not have the hours in the day to follow all of their favorites the way they want to.

But getting overly excited like you are a 6 year old on x-mas morning when your team is at the top is just a natural reaction for sports nuts.

I am a Mets fan and am grateful I have been wearing the hat etc.. for a few years so its old and faded.

And Jay, the Flyers do suck.
