Since I am not a criminal I don't know...but if you are sentenced to serve any stretch of time...do you get to choose when you will serve it? Why is he allowed to finish the season and then go to jail? Pathetic!

The judge is obviously a Packers fan. No you can't choose when you do your time... unless you are a pro athlete and the judge is a fan of your team.

Didn't they do the same thing for Jamal Lewis? Wasn't he allowed to serve his time during the off season? I don't think people care because of what he is guilty of. Had it been a "big" crime, i think more people would care.

Also, sometimes this can be part of a plea bargain. "i'll keep this out of the courts and make it easy on the judicial system and plead guilty. BUT, i can't serve time til after the season". Sometimes it makes sense to take this deal because it saves everyone time and money.

Plus it help the DA look good for a high profile conviction without affecting the local teams.

A criminal is a criminal and your status as a sports star or movie star or anything else should affect the outcome of your actions.

I agree. If anything, maybe they should be punished more than Joe Nobody. Since they have a greater ability to influence people based on their actions. Not saying that could actually happen... but i wouldnt' be opposed to it.

Edit - i must add that all Flyers players are excluded from my above thought. They can all have their convictions totally waived.
