Avalanche 2006-2007
Why? Because I can.
Disappointing overtime loss against the Stars last night, but there were some positive signs (as well as some negative signs as well). Tonight, the Avs play in Minnesota. If they play like they played in the first period last night, the Avs will go home happy. If they play... Full Article

Another disappointing 3-2 overtime loss to Minnesota last night, but this time the Avs were down 2-0 on the road in a rather electric environment. That shows that the Avs are capable of making enough of a run to be competitive if they're down in a game late. Still, Minnesota deserved the win. Their defense looked great, and their penalty kill was stellar.
The Avs were lucky to get a point, but at least they got it. Next up is a game against Vancouver on Sunday night back in Denver.

hey, they managed to avoid OT last night and won 3-2. Good game for them. But man are they going to struggle this season. They have some nice good looking youth (i really like that Richardson dude), but their depth at forward is not good. Wolski and Svatos will have bright futures though. It was only my first look at them, but i wouldn't pre-order any playoff tickets.

I think they'll do alright this year, but I agree - the playoffs are most likely not in the cards for this year. Theodore made some great saves last night, and so far both he and Budaj have played pretty well in net. Right now, I'm not overly worried about the goaltending.
The Avs next play on Saturday when they host the Edmonton Oilers.

AAAAANNNNDDD... he's gone again.
And the Avs are actually playing some decent hockey too. Maybe he'll be back to give us his take on the team in a month or so. The Avs are not a team i watch regularly, I used to count on Shane and Jtg for Avs news. |

I am basing this solely on the game notes I have read. The Avs have a great leader in Joe Sakic, and a potentially great forward in Milan Hejduk, if he stays consistent. That is about it. There is some great youth on the team, but it will take time to develop it. Theodore is incredibly inconsistent, and I think the blow out in Hab-Land is key to this season. I will be gone again for a few weeks, possibly months. Jay, I sent you a PM explaining why I am willing to pay this price, in order to receive that prize. Stay strong guys, charge the hill, and I will be back when my schedule allows. Shane. |
