Post Torre's future with Yankees in doubt

Joe Torre was absent Sunday. Alex Rodriguez, too. And the New York Yankees made no announcement about changing managers. While several players and coaches packed up in a quiet clubhouse, Day 1 of what figures to be a wild offseason in Yankeeland provided few definitive answers. Torre still has his job -- for now.

While watching Stenbrenner is sometimes a soap opera, this would be a bad move on his point. Torre is probably one of the best managers to ever lead a team and what he has done with the Yanks is just another measure of his success.

I could see and would totally understand if he wanted to quit, no one could/would blame him!!

This is the reason I cannot stand Steinbrenner and his money

rodriguez has a no trade clause...so he might not be going anywhere...torre will most likely be fired but cashman doesn't want that so maybe he can talk steinbrenner out of it...it's clear this team doesn't have the chemistry...didn't have it back in 2004 or 05 either...they need to let sheffield go(free agent)...bernie should retire...they need to dump salaries any way possible from the dead weight of the team...randy johnson, jaret wright, carl pavano all need to go...it's time to try to get some younger pitchers and let them be even if they struggle

Joe should just walk away. Cashman needs to torpedo this ship and start over.

Honestly it would be a shame if Steinbrenner fires Torre. He has done so much for the Yanks and still puts up with all the crap from Steinbrenner. If I were him, I would probably just quit and move on. I am sure he is set for life.

When I get that old, I hope (highly doubtful) that I won't have to put up with any crap from a boss!!!

apparently there is a press conference with Joe Torre at 1pm today. Looks like Georgie came to his senses.

Merkin is on a distinguished road
Seattle does nothing with Arod, get rid of him and they start winning;
Texas does nothing with Arod, get rid of him and they start winning (kinda);
Yankees do nothing with Arod... hmmmm
Arod = albatross. A self proclaimed good looking and rich albatross, but an albatross nonetheless.

97 wins isn't really a bad year for the Yanks.
