Excessive Celebration
There was a time when athletes were humble and did not draw attention or show up the other team, but nowadays it seems every time an athlete does something relatively good, he excessively celebrates his greatness.
Now, I am neither old nor young, but my sports philosophy is strictly old school.... Full Article |

Say NO to Shootouts!

Why do they act like children? Because these games are childrens' games. It just so happens that these grown men get paid a ton of money to do them. I love the celebrations. It makes the game more fun. Nothing is better than when teams could get together after a TD and do their planned out dance/celebration.
Was anything better than the "Dirty Bird" after the Falcons scored? Or the Rams, when they did whatever they did, swinging their arms towards the ground. Also, the phrase "Excessive Celebration" is far too broad. What may be excessive to one, may not even be close to another. If Trotter does his "axe" or Porter does his "kick" after a sack, is that excessive? Its showboating, but not excessive since it lasts 3 seconds. |

I think they've stopped excessive celebrations by excessive penalties... I can understand that if a guys pulls out a sharpy or a cell phone, but throwing a flag if more than one guy celebrates!? Get over yourself!

Since when do ghosts have shifts?

I enjoy celebrations. When a player scores a goal or a touchdown celebrations should ensue without fear of yellow card or penalty.

Yep i agree. They say that football should be about the team... and not about the individual person. Yet they won't allow you to celebrate with your team after you score? So what, the running back wants to do a little dance with his lineman for the great blocking they did for him.
NFL = NO FUN LEAGUE. |

Chad Johnson's stuff is tremendous why in the world would the NFL want to legislate that out of the league? It makes no sense.

The Falcons got and int last night and all jumped up together in a circle and spun around. BAM they threw a flag on it. Even the Panthers fans thought it was ridiculous

The NFL has gone a little over the edge in penalizing celebrations, and what explanation was given?
Celebrations in good taste and good fun I love but I guess the problem you run into is how do you draw the line and who holds that depiction of good verses bad. So I guess its a matter of either all out or nothing. I think Taunting is total BS though and should be penalized whether its directly at a person or implied. Team celebrations were the shit, long gone are those days...and time will tell how much more tight the league will get on things.
