Shea Stadium will no longer be home to the New York Mets by the start of the 2009 season. In my nearly three decades as a Mets fan, there are things about Shea I’ve enjoyed and things about Shea I’m glad will end up under a pile of rubble. And yes, I’m talking about those cheese-tastic neon...

Oh yeah, i forgot... I saw Greg on ESPN Classic last night. I was watching "the top 5 reasons you can't blame the Yankees for blowing the 3-0 series lead". They were talking to random experts and writers and there he was. Thought it was pretty cool.

You are correct that the Mets should not have a statue of Robinson at their stadium but I like the fact that his number is retired throughout baseball.

While the Mets have had players with great impact, no one player has done that over an entire career as a Met. Seaver should have stayed a Met but did not.

How about a John MacNamara statue since he handed you guys the 1986 championship?

i agree here....why have a statue of a player who never played for that team...could you imagine the schmidt statue coming down in philly only to put up a jackie robinson statue??? it just doesn't make sense...and if you don't have 1 standout player to use, why not either leave it out all together or do something with the champion teams of 69 and 86....

i was not there for game 6 in 1986 but i did see it on t.v....
