2004 Nebraska Cornhuskers

Beat Western Illinois tonight 56-17 with a halftime score of 42-3. Joe Dailey was 15-30 with 218 passing yards and 4 TDs while running for 4 carries, 28 yards, and 2 TDs. Two running backs still rushed for 100 yards in the West Coast Offense. Nebraska finished with 581 yards, 363 of them being on the ground and they allowed 177 total yards and minus 4 rushing.

1-0

Up next, Southern Mississippi at home.

It's not that hard to beat a I-AA team.

Honestly, after looking at the box score, I wasn't as impressed as I was after seeing the score. Maybe I read it wrong, but did NU really throw 4 INTs and lose 2 fumbles? If that's the case, we'll need to improve greatly in those areas. If I read it wrong, then we're off to a very promising start.

Special teams play was sloppy as well. How about that kickoff return for a touchdown? Then losing the fumble the when they kicked it back. I'll just say that the whole third quarter left room for improvement. And yeah, Joe Dailey threw 4 INTs. Awesome.
But as a husker fan it was f'ing sweet to see them throw all those touchdown passes.
I'm sure they'll have all of the kinks worked out in time to kick the shit out of Colorado.

Joe Dailey threw 2 ints in the 2nd half because he was put in the position to only throw on 3rd down because we were blowing the shit out of western illinois in the first half and callahan didnt want to run up the score so he ran on 1st n 2nd n then they stacked on the pass on 3rd n thats y he threw 2 more ints and 1 stupid 1... but the huskers still running for 363 yards.. 2 100 yard rushers and almost three brandon jackson (freshman) was at 79 yards on 13 carries while cory ross had 126 yards on 21 carries i believe and tierre green had 112 yards on 13 carries i love it and we still passed for 218 yards through the air most of it being in the first half but i like what i saw in joe dailey except for a few passing mistakes 50% completetion rating i'll take it!

THE CALLAHAN ERA HAS BEGUN

I saw the signs of Dailey's inexperience and the four interceptions are kind of misleading. The special teams are what needs the help mostly.

It's true that NU's victory and offensive explosion was against Western Illinois,it was an impressive first game operating out of the WCO against someone other than themselves.By the time we get to the game against those misfits from Colorado,JD will have gained a great deal more experience running the system and once we beat the shit out of the Buffaloettes, they'll be crying "RAPE" after the blood bath in Boulder and the case will be dropped based on their unwilligness to testify and avoid the embarrassment of another State wide humiliation.

Wow... Just... Wow.

By the way, the game is in Lincoln this year.

I guess the "N" really does stand for Knowledge.

the four interceptions are kind of misleading????????????

In what way? Were they bombs that got picked deep on third and long for no return, maybe a hail mary at the end of the half, or was he getting picked on the little hitches and slants, because if it's the latter an opponent a little better than Western Illinois may not be as gracious in returning the ball............

Should have only been two picks and maybe one. It was Dailey's first start at QB and he is only a true sophomore. I guess you can think what you want, but don't forget he had 6 total touchdowns and 4 through the air which was 5 if it wasn't for a weak holding call on Kurt Mann on the 70 some yard TD pass, filling our best offensive lineman's shoes who is suspended right now.

I didn't see the game, so I don't think anything, just asking. It's a little better that 2 of them came on third downs in the second half, and the season is young, that's why you play the Western Illinois to work out the kinks.............
Just ask Mizzou why they played Troy!!!!

Huskers...........LMFAO.................learn how to hang onto the ball. what did they do put up 476 yards on offense and only score 17 points?????????? what a joke.

Don't member which idiot it was saying how USM's defense looked good. Well guess you do when only allowing 17 points and getting 5 turnovers. But as a defensive unit you can't take much positive away from that, cause you know teams are not going to give the ball up 5 times a game the rest of the year. Especially 4 times on your end of the field.

OH WELL any los
