I like it. On othere boards it seems to be the negative posters and the baiters that dominate. Here you can actually have a discussion and it never seems to devolve into argument. The steroid debate is a prime example. It rears up once in a while but never lasts to the point of name calling. Other boards have fifteen or twenty threads started by the same single issue posters who just want to yell and scream at each other while each side assumes the mantle of the righteous abused. Sportsrant rocks, or as we said when I was wee young lad, it is the Balls!

Poopyhead! Actually back then when they really wanted to get me fired up they would yell, "red on head like dick on dog". Some sort of disorganized brawl was sure to follow. I think the trauma of those moments is why my beautiful, long, luxorious, crimson locks eventually began to fall off my head.
So all I can say is takes one to know one NYEA! NYEA! |

Well said Bil, and I agree. I think a lot of the time people can't handle a real debate without taking it personally, so they don't stick around. We have a small group of posters who post regularly... especially small compared to other boards.
But we have a very opinonated group of posters, and very knowledgable group of posters, which is very good IMO. It leads into some very good debates that can go back and forth for a while. And even if you don't agree with the persons opinion or thought, you can still tell that they understand what they are debating about. Not to mention we can be in a heated debate in one thread, and joking about Rachel or which Vick boy screwed up this week in other threads all at the same time. Oh yeah, and when i was younger it was "thats the tits"... you know, cuz they are very good... where as you may want balls... not that there is anything wrong with that. |

In some ways its better our group is in fact small, it could certainly be bigger and that would be great, but too many posters can and have ruined other good boards. Pretty much damned if you do and damned if you don't.

the rant is good. the only problem is it will be hard to get new members. the problem is some topics are overdone, such as flyers, rangers, etc. people might look at that and get turned off because hockey isnt as big compared to other sports. look at today for example there are 22 posts on fucking peter nedved being cut. the dude has 8 pts and is a minus 20. whereas allen iverson a freat basketball player is about to be traded and their is barely any talk. personally i would rather talk hockey, but people looking to join the sight might not be willing too if we always talk about certain subjects. personally i am like beers i like the small group talks, makes it easier. but i am sure that as a sight sports rant would like more members.

People can start a topic of their choosing and it will get comments, that I know. The people that do spend the most time on here talk about whatever is going on and what pertains to them. Its easy to beat a topic to death and go off topic with a limited number of posters.
Its the age old debate about how to bring in most posters and keep the topics fresh. |

good points diesel...hockey is the big thing here but i think if people were to come here and talk b-ball or other sports that it would get some posts back..i mean we never talked soccer but once gunny and myself found out we both liked it, we started it up and jay jumped on board...
