Pretty shocked this happened actually. I can't imagine how this team will be coming into TC with the disgruntled players vs. coach drama, which will certainly only get worse.

I can't believe it myself. Maybe they thought Tiki was the big problem between the team and Coughlin? Maybe they are waiting til next year to try to get Weiss or Cowher? Who knows. I wouldn't have re-signed him.

I wouldn't have either, regardless if he was the actual problem, he had issues with multiple players publically and I would imagine even more privatley.

I think ou're right in that they didn't see a coach they really wanted this year so they keep him and wait till next year, hell Coughlin might realize that and just be happy he has a job for now, lol.

Keep finishing behind Rutgers and he'll be gone before you know it. They are going to blow next year.

Oh i'm sure Coughlin was just happy to have a job... and he has a chance to show he can coach well. Maybe he can try to get a head coach job somewhere after this. I'm sure the way last season went down for him, it wouldn't look good to other owners.

Look Tom, we want to can you but who we really want is not available now. So we'll sign you for a year, you can help out your resume, becuase lets be honest who wants you after last year, and next year...well it will have been interesting knowing ya. Thanks Tom, see you in training camp.

I see this as the Giants just trying to maintain some continuity in their organization while they search for a new GM. Word is Parcells wants the job but the Giants don't want him.

Seriously, i wouldn't be shocked if something like that went down Beers. Both have to know this is the last year until they get a GM... so the new GM can pick the new coach. You never want to sign a new GM when he can't pick his own coach.
