UFC 68: Randy Couture vs. Tim Sylvia

Couture is going to fight in UFC 67 against Sylvia for the heavyweight title! WTF!? I know he started at heavy, but he dropped down because the heavies were to big! He's 43 years old! I hope he win's, I really like him, but I don't see him getting past that giant

I guess the UFC wanted a bigger name to fight Sylvia at 68. I'm guessing Couture is getting paid very nicely to come out of retirement. It was too soon for Cro Cop... and the reason why Vera isn't fighting him has to do with his contract.

I read yesterday that Vera would have been fighting him instead of Couture, but he only has one fight left on his contract. And if he wins the title, Dana doesn't want a champ to win and then leave. Vera apparently wants a huge signing bonus with his new contract and the UFC doesn't want to pay it. In the end, i bet something between the two gets worked out, but that answers the question about why they aren't putting Vera in there.

That said, Sylvia is going to kill him in one round. I kind of feel like the UFC is trying to pull the wool over my eyes here. Like they think we are stupid and will buy this because of couture's name.

They've done this before with a man by the name of Gracie... The UFC schedules fights that they know are going to suck, but they're fights they can sell. Can Couture win? Of course! Will he? Fuck no!

I'll think about it. Not really because of this fight, but i'm a big fan of watching Hughes and Franklin fight. For me, it will depend on the full card.

I've been buying them lately... as long as there are like 3 fights i really want to see, i will get it. It gives my girl and I something fun to do together and its cheaper than a night out at the bar. Its not like I have a life and anything else to do anyway.

WHOA! Just read that this is a 4 fight, 2 year contract for him. Thats insane... i really hope he doesn't end his career on a 5 fight losing streak. He should have learned from Shamrock. He'll be 45 when this is all done.

Me and a few guys usually go in on them and split the cost and have a few beers and watch them. I just can't get too excited about the card for 67. The contract for Couture if hilarious, 4 fights over 2 years? Please.
