NASCAR drivers on their own to plan for 'worst-case scenario' (AP)

In a world of million-dollar motorhomes, private jets and McMansions on nearby Lake Norman, it's hard to argue NASCAR drivers are underpaid.

I can see getting together to take care of some of the old timers who have fallen on hard times, but any driver from the mid 90's on needs to save for a rainy day.If they blow millions of dollars and don't think about retirement or getting fired or crashing bad, that's their problem. If Nascar starts a pension, that's great, but they are under no obligation.

Oh yeah, the older retired drivers i can see helping and feeling bad for. I'm guessing they didn't make near the amount of money drivers do now. And yes, if they blow millions, thats their own fault. I bet they have a huge house they could sell and move into a normal persons house.

No. We are only talking about less than 100 drivers if you include the Busch series and only like 50 or so regulars.
I guess they just see other sports with pensions and now they want one.
Greedy bastards,open an IRA account!

But if you add in pit crews and everything you would have enough for a decent pension fund.

Yeah, but I'm thinking a 401K is all those guys would ever get
Maybe the crew chiefs could be included in a pension.
