US vs. Mexico 2/7

Tonite the US Men's National Team takes on rivals Mexico in a friendly...but is it really a friendly....Mexico has always believed they are the dominate soccer team in North America, but recent results have shown the US is the dominate team....The only wins by the Mexican team were both played in Mexico....the rest of the games in the past few years around the world have been won by the US, with the ultimate win coming in South Korea in 2002...I'm pretty sure we are 6-2 against them in recent years....This is a true test for new coach Bob Bradley...he has called in Tim Howard, Carlos Bocanegra and Clint Dempsey for the match...Taylor Twellman is also in the squad after recovering from offseason sugery....tonite ESPN 2 8 p.m.

thats why i posted it..i figured since its just me and you that care...since gunny left us.....

can we get a name change from gunny's soccer now that he's gone???

Change it to "realist's soccer".

Gunner is a big let down! I have a feeling he's pretty much gone and its more than just a "project".

great game last nite...i know noone here really cares about soccer...but that was a big game last nite for alot of reasons....us vs. mexico is our biggest rivalry...its yankees/red sox, michigan/ohio state, duke/north carolina, pirates/brewers....our coach has the interim label last nite and he just went a long way in getting rid of that....

my thoughts of the game:

1. we started to slowly as usual
2. chris rolfe is a waste and should not play for a long time
3. jimmy conrad solidified that he is our best defender...people would argue onyewu is the man but conrad did it all last nite...he shut down borgetti(mexican forward) and scored the winning goal...
4. we miss claudio reyna...our center midfielders are not creative enough
5. we need more strikers...our forwards pretty much suck
6. i think clint dempsey should be moved to the middle and not play the outside anymore...he's the most creative guy we have..
7. bornstein will be our left back for the next decade or so...really impressed with his speed and ability to go forward
