USC and Reggie Bush keep coming to the front of College Football News with possible recruiting violations. Pete Carroll is involved in this latest investigation which involves recruiting Joe McKnight, the top high school recruit in the nation

Joe McKnight stated that he chose USC after he had a phone conversation with Coach Carroll and Reggie Bush. Now Carroll knows that this is against all NCAA recruiting rules and still went ahead and had the conversation.

Sure he will deny this, as will Reggie Bush (who could really care less what happens). The question is being asked and one that comes to my mind > Why would Joe McKnight say this conversation took place? Why would he make such a story up.

Pete Carroll knows the rules and broke these guidlines. USC needs to be sactioned and hopefully they will

I call the NCAA the jackasses here. A high school student can not TALK TO an adult? This is what it boils down to. Thats like saying a future med student can't talk to a doctor who graduated from the school to see if he should go there. Dumbest rule, bar none, in NCAA sports.

Yes of course he should be held accountable. The assinine part here is that USC did something that everyone does. It only becomes an issue when someone with an axe to grind says something. This is the way the system works. It is possible that this was floated by someone in Carroll's camp as a way to clear a path to departure for the NFL. That Chargers scenario is a real keeper.

Can't argue the designation. I just think the bigger jackass is the NCAA and their rules which line their own pockets at the expense of the players, most of whom will not become professionals and will have to struggle to make a living like the rest of us.

You want to reform college sports, start by cleaning house at the top of the NCAA and then by forcing the schools to actually teach some life skills to these young athletes instead of using them as commmodities. These people are not porkbellies or stocks. How many athletes in DIV 1 football or basketball programs actually leave college ready for the real world. I am asking how many have degrees, any asshole can get one of those. How many really have a future after the University of Getthefuckouttahere send them packing?
