since gunny left, i've let this slack off but i'll try to keep up with it...second legs are going off today....here they are with the countries they play in and the results of the 1st leg...home teams are in bold

today

lyon (france) vs roma (italy) first leg result: 0-0
liverpool (england) vs barcelona (spain)first leg result: 2-1
chelsea (england) vs porto (portugal)first leg result: 1-1
valencia (spain) vs inter milan (italy)first leg result: 2-2

tomorrow

arsenal (england) vs psv (holland)first leg result: 0-1
bayern munich vs real madrid(spain)first leg result: 2-3
ac milan (italy) vs. celtic (scotland)first leg result: 0-0
man. u (england) vs. lille(france) first leg result: 1-0

my predictions....
lyon should be able to win this game at home and end roma's run....lyon has been shaky this year so far but i think they put it together and move one

liverpool scored a huge win away and now the question is can they hold on...i think they do and knock off the top team...this might be a goal aggregate difference....(first option they go by is away goals)

chelsea at home...period

valencia was able to score a huge coup by tying inter in italy...they got 2 huge away goals which will help see them thru if they tie 0-0 or 1-1...i think inter is the best team this year and will somehow get thru

arsenal is at home...they are devastated by injuries...they need to win without allowing psv to score....psv has a good shot here...this could go either way

bayern got 2 goals in spain despite losing the game, they are in good shape...a 1-0 win sees them thru...real is hit by injuries...no antonio reyes or david beckham leaves the left side really thin...somehow real pulls this off though

a.c. milan at home...despite the problems they have cause of the cheating scandal, they are back in europe and competing very well...i think they win this game...this could be there last chance...they are an old team

man u at home...coming off a very controversial goal..lille is pissed...this game will be downright nasty and dirty....i advise all to try and tape it and watch it if its on espn2 tomorrow....united advances

Nice post! I do miss how Gunny laid everything out like this for me. Much easier to follow than for me to try to figure it all out. I saw the first liverpool/barca game... that was a fun one.

Liverpool/Barca on ESPN 2 today with Chelsea/Porto on ESPN Classic.

Tomorrow it looks like the Man U/Lille game is the only one on. *EDIT* - i lied, the Bayern Munich/Real Madrid game is on ESPN Classic tomorrow.

And yes, the Champions league is getting more fun for me now... the early rounds blow because i don't know most of the teams.

Lyon over Roma - i thought i saw Roma wasn't as good this year?
Liverpool over Barca - away goals could be key
Chelsea over Porto - cuz its Chelsea

Real Madrid over Bayern - cuz its Real Madrid
AC milan over Celtic - the scottish league sucks (i'm guessing)

good predictions....valencia is right underneath madrid and barcelona in the spanish league....they are kinda like everton...near the top but not really up there with liverpool, arsenal, man u and chelsea

psv is the biggest club in holland and alot of americans have played there...beasley was there and now they have 2 young americans who don't make the 1st team...yet

celctic doesn't suck...the rest of the league does...they would be like 5th in the premiership...they're about as good as liverpool with lesser known names

I've heard alot about Celtic, but never seen them play. Maybe i'll catch the replay thursday. Wish i could get out of here to go watch the liverpool game that starting now.

psv is a very good team...they can compete with any team in the world...the league isn't the strongest but that team is top level...

Yeah looks like Lyon is in trouble because they have to win 2-1 as well.
