I would HATE it if college baseball got rid of the metal bats. I'm a big college baseball fan, and a huge college world series fan. And the sound of the ball off the bat is one of the greatest associations with the college game. The .430 batting averages and the 13-11 games are a great change of pace from the pro game.

That's interesting, because one of the main arguments against metal bats is that purists love the crack (like Marian Barry) but hate the ping (like...I don't know...a submarine captain? I got nothing).

See i like the crack (not the same kind as Barry) as well. But love the ping in the college game. I like that there is a difference. However, i do see how safety can be an issue and concern. The balls simply fly off of those bats and can put pitchers in danger.
