St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa was arrested Thursday in Florida on suspicion of drunken driving.

Police said they found LaRussa asleep inside his running dark blue Ford sport utility vehicle at a stoplight. In a news release, Jupiter police said LaRussa's car sat partially in the intersection through two green-light cycles, forcing another driver to go around him.

The news release stated that LaRussa awakened after police knocked on the window several times. He was instructed to pull the SUV to the side of the road.

Police said LaRussa smelled of alcohol and failed standard roadside sobriety tests. Authorities said he gave two breath samples, which measured at 0.093 blood-alcohol concentration. The legal limit is 0.08.

Jail records show the 62-year-old was arrested around midnight and booked in the Palm Beach County jail on the misdemeanor charge about four hours later.

He was released at about 8:30 a.m. after posting $500 cash bond.

Police said LaRussa was cooperative. His lawyer declined to comment.

LaRussa declined to comment while he was outside the clubhouse in uniform hours later at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, where he planned to manage a spring training game against the Florida Marlins.

The Cardinals said in a statement that the team takes "these matters very seriously" and apologized for any embarrassment and distractions. "The Cardinals organization remains supportive of Tony," the team said.

Now please understand that this does not make any sort of statement about the managerial abilities of Tony LaRussa, he is just a jackass for falling asleep behind the wheel of his car, Jesus H Christ

I think jesus was fond of jackasses as a mode of transportation. Anyone over the age of 40 who gets a DUI is a jackass. Up until that age you can get somewhat of a pass, but at his age there are few things more dumb.

As a teen you dumb just as a matter of fact.
In your twenties you are still fairly dumb just because you are still experiencing lots of new things.
In your thirties you are less dumb but may have not graduated completely from your dumbass stage(some learn faster).
By the time you are forty(while still kind of dumb) you should have left things like DUI's behind you.
As for fifty I hope to explore that beginning in 2010.
