Ups and Downs

Well it's that time of the year again to take a look at who got promoted and who got relegated. Not everything is decided yet so some teams still have a chance at happiness or heartbreak.

Premier League
Manchester United - Champions
chelscum, Liverpool and Arsenal have clinched spots in next season's Champions League
The UEFA Cup spots will be decided by three out of Everton, Bolton, Reading, Portsmouth, sp*rs and Blackburn.
Watford and Charlton have been relegated to the Championship.
The final relegated team will one out of Wigan, West Ham and Sheffield United.

Coca-Cola Championship
Promoted to the Premier League are Sunderland and Birmingham City
The playoff for the final promotion spot is set as follows
Southampton v Derby
Wolves v West Brom

The three relegated teams that go down to Division 1 are
Leeds United (HA HA HA)
Southend
Luton Town

Division One
Already promoted to the Championship are Scunthorpe United and Bristol City
The playoff for the final promotion spot is set at
Oldham v Blackpool
Yeovil Town v Nottingham Forest

Relegated to Division 2 are
Chesterfield
Bradford City
Rotherham
Brentford

Division Two
Already promoted to Division One are Hartlepool, Walsall and Swindon Town
The playoff for the final promotion spot is
Shrewsbury v Milton Keynes Dons
Bristol Rovers v Lincoln City

Relegated to the Conference are Boston United and Torquay United

Conference
Promoted to Division Two as Champions are Dagenham & Redbridge
The playoff for promotion to Division Two is set at;
Exeter v Morecambe

And there you have it, personally I am hoping that Wolves make it back to the Premier League, always had a soft spot for Wolves cos I have met some of their fans and they were very nice fellas.

NICE GUNNER! Love this thread. I'm hoping Wigan or Sheffield get sent down. I don't give a shit about either team, and West Ham seems pretty cool. I don't know dick about the other divisions though.

Thanks Jay, here are some of my views in regards to some of the teams involved in all this.

Sunderland = cunts

Birmingham City should really be called small heath or Bongo City or the Knuckledraggers

Southampton are the local (derby) rivals for your Pompey boys

Dirty Dirty Leeds reach the third tier in English football for the first time ever and I am truly enjoying that one.

Nottingham Forest were once two time defending European Cup Champions

Oxford and Swindon are bitter rivals so hopefully they end up in the same division

Former Premier League teams on the move; Southampton, West Brom, Wolves, Derby County, Leeds, Luton Town, Forest, Bradford City, Swindon Town, MK Dons albeit when they were known as Wimbledon.

Ohhhh, then i'll be rooting for Southampton in their playoffs then!

And even I could see that Sunderland would be coming up this season. They were the most active team during the transfer period. They were throwing around some cash to get players.

Looks like i don't need to worry about learning anything about Leeds for quite a while. Being so new, i don't need to start looking at Englands 3rd tier at this point.

Yeah if Wolves don't make it back then Southampton would be my second choice because those Southampton-Pompey matches are usually very entertaining.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

Sheffield United get relegated on the last day of the season in a very very rich and satisfying way.

West Ham beat Manchester United and Wigan beat Sheffield and Sheffield's manager Neil Warcock is crying away even though his team failed to do the business.

The Big cock had these wonderful quotes;

"At least I knew the players that were playing (for ManU). I didn't even know two of those that played for Liverpool at Fulham last week. "

"I'd never heard of them but when you are a foreign manager like Rafa Benitez, you probably don't give two hoots about what Sheffield United think."
"It's a long journey to Fulham, so the players are probably better off at home with their feet up. "

Ha Ha Ha, great stuff from the big cock, go have fun in the Championship you loser.

BOOOOOO Gunny's Arsenal! BOOOOO!

Actually, maybe not... Had my boys earned the 3 points yesterday, they would have been tied with Bolton for that ever important 7th spot. How does the tie breaker work? Wins? Goal differential?

And i'm happy with the 3 teams going down... never really watched any of those teams. Kind of liked Watford though, but not a big loss.

Goal differential would have been the tie breaker, not sure if your Pompey boys would have made it even with a win against the Gunners.

Oh and BTW, Wigan manager Paul Jewell stepped down today even after guiding them to safety on the last day of the season.

Damn it! Bolton has a negative goal differential, and Pompeys' is like +5 or something. They would have finished 7th. Hopefully they can make a few moves to get there next season.

Why would that Wigan coach quit? He doesn't want to be fighting relegation next season as well. Losing 20 times a year can't be fun.

Speculation is that Jewell is set to take over at Manchester City if Stuart Pearce gets the sack which is likely if the rumored take over of the club happens.

Either way, with Jewell gone at Wigan I already have them down as favorites for relegation next season.
