Silly Season 2007
As June 1st approaches the silly season is set to begin once more, yes that time when speculation of player movement runs rampant and some players get paid waaaaay more than they are worth, while sometimes unheralded moves may mean big impacts at other clubs.
But start the season off I will go with something a little different. A change in a club's crest. Aston Villa have announced a new crest for the 2007-08 season in which the club will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of winning the European Cup in 1982, the European Cup is the predecessor of today's Champions League. I like it and well done to the Villa. |

agreed well played by them..since they can't win anything anymore..haha cunts...anyway..i expect to see shaun wright-phillips moved...owen hargreaves coming to united and i think a few lower level or older players moving on and possibly coming to the mls....possibly without the beckham clause being used

Wow... there is hardly even a difference in their logo (crest). I guess creativity isn't a strong suit of the team.

Good call on Shaun Wright-Phillips totally agree. Owen Hargraeves will deffo leave the Bundesliga and more than likely wind up with ManU. I am also going to be interested in seeing where Demarcus Beasely winds up I don't think it will be back in Holland.
MLS could be seeing an influx of talent unlike any other in the past.... |

Probably right on that ssigs, another thing to keep in mind this upcoming silly season, Juventus will make their return to Serie A, I am thinking they will be looking to sign some top talent thereby driving up prices.

some good articles i read so far today
FOX Sports - England - All the numbers add up for United FOX Sports - FA Cup - Hilario could be Blues' sub striker <-----hilarious FOX Sports - USA - Xavier signs up to Galaxy quest <-----here they come...mid 30's players who are still capable of playing but not quite able to play at the top level anymore...i except a couple more of them this year..which is exciting to me cause the flair has been gone since guys like etcheverry and valdaramma left....roberto carlos are you listening???? |

lol, so Chelsea is a big bunch of pussy players, so they will have to use a goalie as a striker?
And the Galaxy will have this Xavier dude and Beckham... they are done then right? They can only sign two? |

i don't believe xavy was signed under the beckham clause....i think he was just a regular senior international signing...not positive on that though..i think l.a. only had 1 beckham designation

Oh, okay cool... the article wasn't very clear to me about his signing status. Didn't think he would take the small salaries that the clubs are allowed to give out. Especially with Donavan making almost half of the teams allowed cap room.

I think they are afraid to raise it too much in fears that teams will put themselves deep in the red. They are trying to make the league bigger, and having teams fold isn't the way to do it. But yeah, guys shouldn't be getting paid that little. Maybe they should raise the league minimum a little?

You don't... i guess they have to get the best side job they can while trying to train and make the team. Talk about sacrafice to live out your dream... yeah, they really need to raise that.
