End of the Preds?

I remember this guy (http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/Nashville/2007/05/23/4203441-cp.html), Jim Ballsack who tried to buy the Pens and then backed out when he found out there where stipulations about keeping the Flightless Ones in Pittsburgh. I don't know if the Preds would have the same...

This is so new that not too much has come out about it yet. From what i'm reading it seems like he can move them if he wants... which i think he would want to do seeing as the team has lost money every year. IMO, Portland would be a great place for the team... and they can stay in the western conference.

Not sure if he would change the team name. The Predators is a cool nickname and pretty much fits with any city.

I'm guessing so... they are one of the most populated cities in the north west, and there really any teams that close to them. Vancouver is north, but you have to go through Washington to get there. The Sharks, Kings and Ducks are just south of them, but thats still a hike. They can support an NBA team, so they obviously already have an arena for the hockey team to play in.

Plus, its a northern city close to canada... its gotta have a bunch of hockey fans. Shane, i'd love to hear your take on Portland and a team.

I agree on winnipeg, but Bettman is still the head huncho . . . won't see another Canadian team.

I'd wager that if Ballsack moves the Preds it will be to Canada.

I would think the new owner will do whatever it takes to move them to Canada.Can the NHL make him go to Portland?

I don't believe the NHL can make them go anywhere.

And i'm going to say there is near a zero percent chance he wants to move the team to Canada. The contracts for players aren't worth as much up there... so they really have less cap room to work with. I don't know how it all works, but i've read it somewhere.
