Thoughts on this poll

I have been keeping an eye one Arod over the past few years and this guy is just simply an amazing baseball player

He is having a great year and is the next so-called successor to Breaking Bonds' record (going to happen)

Think he can do it

I'm counting on it. He can bring back legitimacy to the home run title.

I voted no. He will become way too interested in strippers, they will suck him dry of his money and manliness, thereby leaving him just a shell of the man he once was.

You've been paying attention to Arod over the last couple of years? What were you doing prior to those years? Living in a cave?

Where Bonds is 3 times the size of the man he once was.

I gotta admit, I did love watching Bonds patrol left field at Three Rivers Stadium prior to him blowing up on the juice. He just always choked in the playoffs.

Its going to be tough for Arod to do, but its possible... he's 33 years old (in july) with 489 homers, so he's 266 shy. He is averaging 42 HR's a year roughly. If he doesn't drop off and keeps that pace up, it will take him 6.5 years until he is 40.

The one thing we don't know is how he's going to hold up health wise. I don't remember him ever being hurt, so that would have to continue (obvioiusly)

The pre-juice Bonds was a great player, playoff problems or no.

I'll wait about five years before getting excited about Arod and his HR total.

Have to agree with Jay's assessment (does that mean I'm losing my mental faculties? sorry Jay); if he stays healthy and hungry he could pull it off. I would sure like to see him do it.

lol

Its okay to agree with me on occasion... but you can tell you are losing your mind if it happens too often.

Oh and kind of off-topic (and most of you may know this already)... but anyone find it strange that Aaron only won 1 MVP while Bonds has 7 of them? All of Aarons great years and he never even finished 2nd in the voting other than the time he won.

Aaron was always quiet and understated and played in a small market. Most of the attention went to Willie Mays in the NL and Mantle in the AL. Up until 1971 or so no even knew Aaron had a shot at Ruth. Mays was the man until then and he got old very suddenly. He was also competing with in the NL with Musial, Matthews, & s. Snlder in the 50's then McCovey, Cepeda, Brock and others in the 60's.

His MO was consistency. The others had the real monster season. Henry just went about his business and put up the numbers. You could compare him to Manny Ramirez these days. Manny is overshadowed by Bonds, Arod and the like but when all is said and done his numbers will be up there with the best.

Thanks for the history lesson Bil! As i've stated before, sports history is not a strong suit for me. But that does make sense, be consistantly good but not often putting up those monster years that get all the attention.
