Transformers = Good

I liked the cartoon as a kid but the effects in this movie are (wow) damn good. Not much of a story but better than I expected and great for what it is!

I did overhear one movie going complaining that it was a 2 hour comercial for GM.
-ahem-
IT'S A MOVIE ABOUT CARS!! Cars that turn into robots, but cars nonetheless.

That is all.

How can they make Bumble Bee anything other than a VW bug?? Horrible. I loved the Transformers as a kid... this movie is more geared to people who grew up as a kid with the Transformers in their prime. There is no doubt I will like it because it will take me back to my childhood. Hell, i'm used to the Transformers having a stupid "plot" and lots of action. I'll be fine.

I completely agree with you on this one Jay. I watched the orginal 1986 cartoon Transformers movie on DVD this past week in preparation for this movie. I realized how cheesey it was, but I felt like a kid again.

How BumbleBee became a Camaro instead of a VW bug is beyond me...but the Camaro does look really cool. There is no doubt in my mind that I will see this movie in the theater and probably own it when it comes out on DVD.

From what I've been told when the decision was made to make the movie, the film-makers went to VW and said "We're ready to make the Transformers movie. We need to get x# yellow VW Beetles." To which VW promptly said "We don't want our product associated with any type of violence." At that point it became open bidding on the branding.

--Now if you see HBO's First Look Michael Bay claims that when he saw the new Camero he knew he found his new Bumblebee.

I actually did see the first look thingie on HBO after this thread was started, well some of it. I didn't realize VW said no... screw them. I guess they had no choice but to change Bumble Bee.

I think that this was an outstanding movie. Does Spielberg put out bad movies?

I disagree. Transformers = GREAT

I've seen it a couple times already, and I'd STILL be willing to see it again. The effects were just beyond amazing. Sure the story is kind of, you know, cheesy/filled with holes/whatever at times, but I don't think they were going to Best Picture with this film.

It was supposed to be a summer blockbuster, and it sure as hell looked like one.

Probably the best movie I've seen all summer so far.

You should... it will give me time to make fun of you when my Raiders beat your Broncos twice this year.

Okay, even I don't believe that, but it would be funny as hell if they did.
