Only for Members who are Active or Everyone?

About the 2007 Rant NFL Picks League...

I know this was debated a ton last year, so Meik and I were talking and wanted to get everyone opinions. The payouts are probably going to be a bit smaller this year... make your jokes, lol... but it has to be that way.

So the question is, who should we open it up to? Should we do it for anyone who signed up like last season, or keep it to just the members who are "active" on the site? Its up to us, however the majority votes, we will do that. And we are looking for suggestions as to, who counts as "active".

IMO, its anyone who posts. We have some guys who only pop in once and a while, but i think they should be allowed in this as well. I don't think the NUMBER of posts should matter, because we have never cared about that here.

Please vote, and post thoughts here... we should try to have this resolved by mid August I would guess. Anyone who reads this that was in it last year, but never posts, feel free to make a case why we should include everyone.

**NOTE... the poll is a PUBLIC poll, meaning everyone can see who voted how. That way we can count active members votes for more. And PLEASE PLEASE keep this on topic until its figured out... after that, go nuts if you wish.

It's free. You pick the winner of each NFL game every week, and the person with the most wins at the end of the season gets a prize. This year, it sounds like we might get a box of Saltines, and some stale bread from the basement of Meik's palacial digs.

I feel that this should be to "active" members of the rant. Those other people that sign up to do the picks and then never join and or just come back the next year for the picks again...well they suck big hairy moose balls.

I think the pop ins should be allowed to play. What about 10 posts in 6 months or the past year? Or if you haven't posted in the past year your are out? Has this created any new posters or just gotten people involved who want the prizes but don't actively use the site.

Also set a deadline for a resolution. I suggest a week. It sounds severe, but will force people to speak up.

The whole thing is, who counts for active. I probably wouldnt count of active because of my laziness....but in years past i was pissed because of people I never heard of getting the two and three spots, so I say active members, even if I am counted out of it.

Of course there isn't a question you are included Nick. And even if people don't have many posts, but they stop by to talk on occasion, i'd say that okay too. We're more debating about eliminating the people who sign up to only do this, or signed up and never even bothered to say hi.

You can't let people sign up and then kick them off. I think you should make it necessary to be somewhat active year round at least. How many people register multiple names to try and win a contest while there are many people who are active and would be more deserving.

In the admin control panel, we will know if and when people have more than one username. Also, we will be able to approve or unapprove anyone before they are signed up. If people want to be active, they can be, and then play in the picks contest next year. IMO, that only seems fair.

Oh, this argument again.

There should be a fee on your winnings if you are not a regular.
