VD's Previews: Philadelphia Eagles
Looking At 2006 In The Rear View Mirror:
When Donovan McNabb suffered a Jamal Anderson-type of season-ending injury, it looked like the Philadelphia Eagles were done. While a backup quarterback is supposed to be good enough to step in for a short period of time and sustain... Full Article |

Its interesting how well this team has done in the McNabb/Reid era and how many times they have made the playoffs, won the division, and made the NFC championship game and even the super bowl over these few short years yet they are just good...when almost ever year their NFC opponents changed in the playoffs/NFC championship game...I am not saying they rival the Pats for greatness by any means even I am not a total homer...but they are beyond competative year in and year out during the current era, something most don't give them much credit for.
I disagree with you about the rushing this year, one Reid is not calling the plays anymore and two McNabb is coming off of a knee injury and the less they can rely on him in the pocket and having to scramble the better...it should end up being a very balanced attack...but with their quick strike mentality and over abundance of long plays...that is also a major factor in how the running game is utilized less than most teams and those long plays won't change. |

I was not impressed with Kevin Curtis the other night.
But good luck to ex Tennessee Vol Omar Gaither at MLB. I hope he does a good job with some big shoes to fill. |

I'm never impressed with the Eagles in preseason to be honest...they are very vanilla in play. I think Curtis will fit into this system just fine he won't be a stud or anything but he is a wash over Stallworth I think.
I have high hopes for Gaither...it will take him some time to take the lead role as the MLB but hopefully not too long. |

hopefully we play nice on thursday so noone gets hurt...then it'll be interesting when we play you in the regular season
i wasnt a fan of stallworth...you can go back and look at my posts..so i don't think its a huge loss...every team needs a small white receiver and i think westbrook will have a huge year if reid decides to run more |

Eh the starters won't see any action so it should be fine.
I liked Stallworths ability to stretch the field...which was replaced by Curtis so i'm ok with it. |

Beers, another question (same one i always ask)...
So far, what does their WR depth chart look like?? Any idea? |

Heh, you'll be happy...so far its shaking out as Brown and Curtis as the ever interchangeable 1 & 2 and AVANT 3 mostly the slot guy...Reid LOVES him and the freak catches anything that comes his way...Baskett is vying for the 3/4 receiver and Lewis (prolly won't make the team)

SWEET! Excellent news, thanks. Hopefully it stays that way. I may have to try to find an Avant jersey.

Same old crap every year (not you personally ssigs everyone), yet every year the team does well with what they have...I am honestly a believer in the "system" working for the Reid Eagles...would I like seeing a marquee type guy...absolutely...but we tried that with the wrong one and it left a bad taste in my mouth.
The organization gives me little to work with in terms of doubting what they do...though I wish we could just pinpoint the over the hump move to be super bowl bound. |

brown is a nice player...but he's more a #2...they never draft offense in round 1...next year they should gamble on a wr in round 1(if one is available)
they also need that big back to compliment westbrook <---shoulda took leonard |

Their philosophy is that a #1 is not needed in their system for the most part...the only O they draft in round one is linemen...they have hard ons for them...I wouldn't mind at all a true #1 but the system works well with what they have.
I wanted Leonard but I really like Hunt and so far he has done really well for them...not a flashy guy at all, need to work on receiving and some blocking but other than that the N/S runner this team has needed for a while so far. |

the window is closing fast on them cause the key guys are getting older...now is the time to infuse the team with a nice playmaking wr...thats just how i feel...i agree with the north/south runner and thats hunt to a tee...
