The BIG NFL Pool

I thought I would post my picks here for the football pool I am in so as to give you ranters a chance to comment on how little I know about picking winners.

There are right now 690 participants at $170 each. The total prize money so far is $117,300. We expect more to sign on in the next few weeks.

Week 1 winner hit 14, the only one to do so. He took home about $2500.

I hit 8 leading into Sunday night with Baltimore & Arizona as my picks. Needless to say I finished the week at 8.

This week:
Atlanta and the 10 1/2
Buffalo and the 9 1/2
Cincinnati giving 5 1/2
Giants giving 1 1/2
Carolina giving 6 1/2
Indy giving 6 1/2
New Orleans giving 2 1/2
San Fran and the 3 1/2

I had possibly my worst week ever, only 5 going into tonight. Hopefully most eveyone else sucked also.

Ouch rough week...I'd be nuts over picking each week with that kind of money on the line.

Yeah stupid Eagles in week 1 and Bengals in week 2 have knocked me out of both my money survivor leagues. I usually suck at the weekly picks, but usually pretty solid in the survivor pools. Not so much this year. Blah.

you got burnt on the Cinci game Jay, I can't imagine anyone thinking the Browns were going to beat them. Picking the Browns on point spread yeah, but an outright win? Where the hell did THAT game come from? Mind you, lot's of Bengals injured I suppose.

Two players hit 14 last week to split the payout. Overall leader had a 13 for a total of 24. I stand at a miserable 13 but hope that a trend of incompetence has not been established.

He who runs the pool holds the money. What he does with it in the meantime nobody really cares as long as everyone gets paid. He has been doing this for over forty years. Come superbowl he does $1000 squares also. My $20 squares are peanuts to him.

Bil, how does the payout work? At 170 per person, it comes to $10 a week. By my math that should make the weekly win at $6900. Is it back loaded for the later weeks?
